Last Sunday’s Collection …………………..$2,123.00
Gerald & Dorine Jaczynski (project fund)…..$2,500.00
Sunday Contribution: Fundraisers and special donations are most important in maintaining financial stability
in our parish. However, the weekly collections still form
the largest single source for income. Some may give
weekly whatever they are able - some can give more and
some less. We appreciate the ongoing weekly donations
made by our parishioners and friends. Thank you to all
and continue in your generosity so that we may continue
to be a parish able to proclaim the message of Christ.
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Each must do as already determined, without sadness or
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”.
II Corinthians 9:6-7

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Pro-Life - A challenging call to all who are followers of Christ
As Catholics we should be 100% Pro-Life. Being Pro-Life prompts the following questions in our hearts and minds:
Do we show respect to all persons regardless of where they are on the journey through life?
Do we especially reverence towards those in the wombs of their mothers and those on their death beds ?
Do we have compassion for those who find themselves in the seemingly never-ending spiral of poverty and injustice?
Do we help to make the world environment a better place that is conducive to good health and living?
This week we especially focus our attention on the unborn and pray for an end to abortion.
Thursday, January 22nd is 42 years since the United States Supreme Court decision was made concerning abortion.
Holy Hour/Respect for Life: Mass TODAY at noon at
St. Josaphat Basilica, 2333 S. 6th Street; followed by
exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and time for prayer.
O God, who adorn creation with splendor and beauty
and fashion human lives in your image and likeness,
awaken in every heart reverence
for the work of your hands; renew among your people
a readiness to nurture and sustain
your precious gift of human life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Archdiocesan Respect Life Mass: Thurs., Jan. 22nd,
42 years since the Roe vs. Wade decision! Bishop Richard Sklba will preside at the Archdiocesan Respect Life
Mass Thursday in observance of the National Day of Penance and Prayer, the 42nd anniversary of the tragic Roe
vs. Wade decision. Join in fellowship with Catholics from
around the archdiocese for a 6:30 p.m. rosary and 7:00
p.m. Mass at Saint Leonard Church, W173 S7743
Westwood Dr., Muskego praying for the termination of
violations against the human person through abortion
and for the restoration of the legal guarantee of the right
to life. Our parish will join with them in prayer
during our 8:00 a.m. Mass on Thursday of this week.
Mid-January Reflection: We are in the middle of the most winter-like month of the year, and it’s the
time when those attuned to nature look to see the increase of daylight. If we look carefully we do notice a minute by minute increase of precious sunlight. In mid-July we tend not to look eagerly toward
the decrease of daylight, but in mid-January we most eagerly look for the increase of daylight. Hopefully this is a reflection of our search for the light of Christ in our lives. May each mid-winter be a
time of prayer as we search to see an increase of Christ’s light within us just as nature so suggests.
While we joyously celebrated the birth of Christ during the Christmas season, may we during
these days of January reflect on Christ’s light growing within us always as reflected in the rhythm of nature at this time
of the year. Both the seasons of the Church’s Year and the course of nature provide us with fertile soil for wholesome
prayer and worship. Appreciate each season which in some ways shows forth the beauty and glory of God!
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - January 18th through 25th
Ecumenism means the initiatives and activities encouraged and organized,
according to the various needs of the Church and as opportunities offer, to promote Christian unity.
Some ways of practicing ecumenism according to Vatican II are summarized here below.
Avoid disparaging statements and judgments which do not represent the condition
of our separated brothers and sisters.
Be interested in dialogue between different churches and communities
which are organized to help the groups better understand and appreciate each other.
Cooperate with one another in activities for the common good of humanity which are demanded of every Christian.
Come together for common prayer where this is permitted and appropriate.
All should examine their own faithfulness to Christ and undertake whatever is necessary for renewal and reform.
All are encouraged and urged both to pray for Christian unity and to do whatever possible according to these directives,
so that the day will come when all followers of Christ will come together and share in the one Table of the Lord.
Almighty ever-living God, who gather what is scattered
and keep together what you have gathered, look kindly on the flock of your Son,
that those whom one Baptism has consecrated may be joined together by integrity of faith
and united in the bond of Charity.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you
