SOCIAL CONCERNS
The Poor Box for the month of April is for three
pregnancy centers in Montgomery County: Centro
Tepeyac in Silver Spring, Rockville Pregnancy Center,
and Shady Grove Pregnancy Center. These Centers
provide assistance needed by women and their families
who are confronted with the concerns and difficulties
regarding the arrival of a new child.
SOME - on April 13, St. Bartholomew Neighborhood #4
(Helmsdale, Nevis, Heatherhill and Braeburn) provided
the noon meal at SOME (So Others Might Eat). Thank
you to everyone who generously contributed (submitted
by Jennifer Kawar).

ongoing pastoral care ministry. St. Stephen Ministers are
members of the parish, intensely trained to care for people
who are experiencing a loss, or going through difficult times or

The parish community of St. Bartholomew
extends its deepest sympathy and prayers to
the family of long-time parishioner Olga Gilloegly
who died on April 1, 2015. A Mass of Christian
Burial for Olga was celebrated at St.
Bartholomew Church on April 10. Please keep the soul of
the deceased and her family and friends in your prayers.
The Sacrament of Baptism was recently celebrated at
St. Bartholomew Church by the following: Mercedes Mae
Bilbao (daughter of Marcel and Elizabeth Bilbao) and
Mason Sebastian Nichols (son of Stephen and Pilar
Nichols).
THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

altar in memory of loved ones, living or
deceased, please print your name, phone
number, and the occasion or loved one you
wish to remember on a purple Flower
Contribution envelope, which you will find in
the church vestibule. Minimum contribution for two
vases on the main altar is $75. Please drop off your

St. Bart's Youth Group: we are a group devoted
to learning that our Faith is not about rules but about
experiencing true happiness and growing into the best
version of ourselves by simply doing and loving the
good things of life! Youth between 5th grade and 10th

On Saturday, May 2, the Gabriel Network, which provides
housing to women in crisis pregnancies, will celebrate 20 years
of pro-life ministry with its annual gala. The gala will be held
from 6:30-10pm at the Knights of Columbus Rosensteel Hall in
Silver Spring. Tickets are only $50 and will allow the Gabriel
Network to offer support to the moms and babies who live in
their homes in Gaithersburg, Bowie, and Ellicott City. For

Church, The Women's Prayer Group will sponsor a 90
minute video showing of "Romero" with Raul Julia. All
are invited to attend.

The Faith and Fiction Book Group will meet on
Sunday, May 3, at 1:30 in the parish meeting room to
discuss Lila by Marilynne Robinson. This book won the
2014 National Book Critics Circle Award and was a
finalist for the 2014 National Book Prize Award. This
book is a prequel to her Pulitzer Prize winning novel
Gilead. All are welcome.
The DAUGHTERS OF MARY BREAKFAST hosted by MSP
Sodality will be held on Sunday, May 3, at the Golden Bull
at 11:00 am. This annual women’‛s event which particularly
honors Mary, Our Blessed Mother, includes a delicious buffet
breakfast, door prizes, raffles, and give-aways for adults and
children. This year’‛s guest performer/speaker is Sarah Hart,
who is an award winning international song writer, singer,
musician, as well as a leader of faith-based women’‛s retreats.
Sarah performed for Pope Francis and hundreds of thousands
of people in Rome in 2013 in St. Peter’‛s Square at the World
Pilgrimage of Families. Tickets for the breakfast, $23.00 for
adults, $9.00 for children 5-11, and children 4 and under are
free, will be sold after Masses and at the Mother Seton Parish
Office (19951 Fr. Hurley Blvd., Germantown) beginning April 11

WEEKEND RETREAT FOR PEOPLE FACING SERIOUS
ILLNESS: A retreat specially planned for men and women
facing serious physical illness will be held at the Dominican
Retreat House in McLean, Virginia, from May 22 - 24. A team
of doctors, nurses, priests, sisters and helpers will be present
around the clock. Scheduling allows plenty of time for rest
and reflection. There is no fee to attend this retreat. It is a
non-smoking weekend. Registration closes May 12. If you have

y palpar las llagas de Sus manos, de Sus pies y de Su
costado. No es un fantasma. Es una realidad: Mirad mis
manos y mis pies. Soy Yo en persona. Palpadme y daos
cuenta de que los fantasmas no tienen carne y hueso,
como veis que Yo tengo. Y comparte la comida con los
discípulos. Se han cumplido las Escrituras: el Mesías
padecerá, resucitará de entre los muertos al tercer
día, y en su nombre se predicará la conversión y el
perdón de los pecados a todos los pueblos comenzando
por Jerusalén. Cristo resucitado sigue estando presente
