The parish community of St. Bartholomew extends its
deepest sympathy and prayers to Donna Truitt and
family and friends upon the death of her mother and
long-time parishioner, Mary Truitt, on April 14. A
Funeral Mass for Mary will be celebrated at St.
Bartholomew Church on Friday, May 1 at 11.30 a.m.
Please keep the soul of the deceased and her family and
friends in your prayers.

SOCIAL CONCERNS
The Poor Box for the month of April is for three
pregnancy centers in Montgomery County: Centro
Tepeyac in Silver Spring, Rockville Pregnancy Center,
and Shady Grove Pregnancy Center. These Centers
provide assistance needed by women and their families
who are confronted with the concerns and difficulties
regarding the arrival of a new child.
Become a Shelter Hospitality Volunteer - you are
cordially invited to spend one evening a week from April
through September at one of Catholic Charities' 3 low
barrier shelters for men who are homeless. Our shelters
are clean, safe places where people without homes can
spend the night;; you can assist our professional staff
from 6:30-8:30 p.m., when the residents check in, to
assign beds, distribute linens and toiletries, serve
dinner, distribute mail, and most importantly, offer a

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
The flowers on the altar this week were
sponsored by the Motha Family in honor of
Augustine and Canis Paiva.
If you would like to sponsor flowers on the
altar in memory of loved ones, living or deceased, please
print your name, phone number, and the occasion or
loved one you wish to remember on a purple Flower
Contribution envelope, which you will find in the church
vestibule. Minimum contribution for two vases on the
main altar is $75. Please drop off your envelope in the
collection basket, or call the parish office, 301-2297933, and your request will be posted in the weekly
bulletin.
We can only honor one individual request per weekend,
so please bear in mind that, sometimes, the date you
require may already be taken. Also, for your
information, we will not be able to accept requests for
the sponsoring of flowers on specific liturgical dates.
St. Bart's Youth Group: we are a group devoted
to learning that our Faith is not about rules but about
experiencing true happiness and growing into the bestversion of ourselves by simply doing and loving the
good things of life! Youth between 5th grade and 10th

The Faith and Fiction Book Group will meet next
Sunday, May 3, at 1:30 in the parish meeting room to
discuss Lila by Marilynne Robinson. This book won the
2014 National Book Critics Circle Award and was a
finalist for the 2014 National Book Prize Award. This
book is a prequel to her Pulitzer Prize winning novel
Gilead. All are welcome.

The National Christian Choir will appear in concert on
Saturday, May 2, at 7 pm in the Basilica at the National Shrine
of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The
National Christian Choir is a 175-voice, interdenominational
choir based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area which
ministers through concerts, recordings, tours and radio. The
NCC is part of the Seton Shrine’‛s 2015 Spring Concert
Series. All are invited to the Basilica to enjoy this free
concert. The Shrine (including the Stone House, White House,
Seton Legacy Garden and St. Joseph’‛s Cemetery and Mortuary
Chapel) is open daily from 10am to 4:30pm as is the Seton
Heritage Museum and Shoppe. The grounds and the outdoor
Stations of the Cross are available from dawn to dusk.

Hospice Caring, Inc. will provide a three-day training May 12,
13, & 14 for new hospice caregivers and bereavement
volunteers. The training covers topics such as communication
and active listening, understanding grief, cultural competency,
and self-care. Trained Hospice Caring volunteers provide
companionship, home assistance and transportation, adult
bereavement support group facilitation, school-based Good
Grief Clubs, and Health Class facilitation. Training will take
place from 8:30 am – 4 pm each day at the Hospice Caring
Cottage at 518 South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. To

Yo soy el buen Pastor, declara Jesús. Es el buen Pastor
que da su vida por nosotros porque nos ama. No nos
abandona, ni huye, cuando estamos en peligro, cuando
el enemigo quiere hacer estragos y dispersarnos. Está
siempre junto a nosotros para defendernos a costa de
su
propia
vida.
Jesús es el buen Pastor que conoce a sus ovejas en el
amor y éstas le conocen en el mismo amor, igual que el
Padre me conoce y yo conozco al Padre. Y en ese
misterio de mutuo conocimiento en el amor del
Espíritu Santo está el cocimiento que Cristo nos tiene y
el que nosotros le tenemos a Él. Si queremos conocer a
Jesucristo, hemos de perseverar en el amor
sobrenatural para experimentar el gozo del amor que
nos tiene y que nosotros tenemos a Él.
Jesús busca amorosamente a todos. Tengo, además,
otras ovejas que no son de este redil: también a esas
las tengo que traer; y escucharán mi voz y habrá un
solo rebaño, un solo Pastor. La redención se ordena a
todos los hombres, Jesús los busca a todos y la Iglesia
tiene como misión prioritaria trabajar para que todos
los hombres conozcan y amen a Jesucristo, para que
vivamos unidos en un solo rebaño bajo un mismo
Pastor.
