Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM)
The CYM Trip to Schlitterbahn Water
Park at New Braunfels was a lot of
fun. We were blessed with a beautiful
day and wonderful fellowship with
our parish family. There were 34
CYM members and 8 family members
that joined us at Schlitterbahn for a
total of 42 parish members. A BIG
THANK YOU to the Adults that
helped chaperone and to everyone that
has supported CYM, without their
help these activities would not be possible. Thanks’ to everyone that prayed
for a CYM safe trip.
Our Next CYM meeting will be Sunday August 10th after 11:00 mass.

Fr. Cyril Ejaidu is going to celebrate all Masses the weekend August 9th - 10th and give a mission appeal. There
will be a second collection at all the Masses this weekend
for his mission. Please welcome Fr. Cyril to our parish.

MASS SCHEDULE
Holy Day of Obligation
The solemnity of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
is on August 15th. This is a holy day of obligation. All
Catholics are required to be in communion with the universal Church by attending Mass this day to celebrate and
proclaim this specific Catholic faith. The Mass schedule
is as following:
Thursday, August 14th
St. Mary - 7:00 pm
Friday, August 15th
St. Mary - 8:00 am
Holy Rosary - 7:00 pm
There will not be daily Mass at St. Mary’s at 12:00 Noon
on Thursday, August 14th or Friday, August 15th.
Women’s Club School Supply Collection
The 2014-15 school year will be beginning soon and
some children will need a little extra help with the necessary school supplies. St. Mary's Women's Club will be
sponsoring second collections at the Mass weekends of
August 16th and 17th and August 23rd and 24th to help
local schools and children with their needs. Funds collected will be donated to Caldwell elementary, intermediate and middle school campuses, so please be generous to
help our local children have a successful start to a new
school year.
Rescheduled Discernment Session
Our parish needs to elect 2 members to the pastoral council. There will be a discernment session for this purpose
on August 23rd at 10 am in the PAC. This is a prayerful
process to discern the call to serve on the pastoral council. All parishioners are invited to this session.
RCIA
“The Rite of Christian Initiation is designed for adults
who after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way
of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their
hearts. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments fruitfully.” Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Dr. Murl Bailey will be starting RCIA at
St. Mary’s on Wednesday, September 17th. If you are
called to be in full communion with the Church, please
contact the Church office at 567-3667 to sign up for
RCIA.
Our Lady of Lourdes Festival Donations Needed
The Our Lady of Lourdes Festival will be on October
19th. The following are areas where you can help, please
consider making a donation. Thank you for your support
of the Our Lady of Lourdes Festival.
Meat Donations - If you are interested in making a monetary donation to offset meat costs for the Festival, please
contact Steve Kocurek or Ernesto and Beni Valenzuela.
Raffle Prizes - If you are interested in donating a prize
for the raffle, please contact Janice Robertson. ASAP!
Live and Silent Auction Items - If you are interested in
making a donation to either auction, you may bring the
item to the Church Office. Make sure the donor’s name
is on the item and marked for the live or silent auction.
Parent Meeting
Religious education for grades kindergarten to 6th
grade at St. Mary's is fast approaching for the fall. Fr.
Bernard has requested a parent meeting to be held on
Sunday, August 17th after Mass. Parental attendance
is very important to discuss the upcoming religious education year for kindergarten to 6th grade.
New Student Registration
New student registration will be held on Sunday, August
17 after the parent meeting. Parents will need their child's
baptismal certificate to register.
Men/Women Retreat
CCFM is hosting retreats for high school men and women
on August 15th - 17th. The cost is $25 and will be held at
Holy Rosary for the women and Holy Family Retreat
Center for the men. Contact Chris Johnson at [email protected] for more information and
a packing list.
Journey and Ignite Registration!
Attention parents of students grade 6th - 12th. Registration for Ignite and Journey has begun. Please take a form
from the back of the church and return it in the large manila envelope. There will be a mandatory parent's meeting
August 31st after 10:00 pm Mass in the PAC. It should
last no longer than 45 minutes. For those who don't
know, Ignite is the middle school youth group for students entering the 7th or 8th grade this coming school
year and meets on Sunday nights from 6:00 pm - 8:00
pm. Journey is the high school youth group and meets on
Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The nights
include food, fun, fellowship, and a lesson on our
faith. Please note that students preparing for Confirmation must attend regular Journey classes. Contact Chris
