The Mission of
St. Pius X Parish
is to “Restore all things in
Christ” - Pope Pius X
How Much Should I Be Giving?
Faced with raising kids, mortgage payments, car payments and a never ending list of bills each month – how do we
respond to God's call to deepen our financial commitment to him?
Considering that a “tithe” is 10% of our gross income, how do we make that kind of a significant financial contribution to the church? Especially when it seems there’s nothing left over at the end of the month?
For many of us, tithing may seem like an unrealistic, really unreachable goal. Fortunately, what many of us have
discovered is that growing toward a tithing relationship with God is much easier when we approach it like any of
life’s great challenges – in small steps.
Consider the concept of “Grow One.” If your tithing is one percent, be faithful in giving one percent as the first fruits
at the beginning of every month. If it is three percent, be faithful. Consider that as your starting point, and slowly
work point by point towards a full 10 percent.
The chart below will help you determine where your starting point is. For example, if you have a household income
of $50,000 per year and you give the church $20 dollars per week, then you can see that your household would be
giving just under 2%.

For most of us, when we see “where we are on the chart” it is very revealing and very challenging. Frankly, until we
see it on the chart, most of us think we are giving more than we actually are! The important thing is not to play with
the numbers, but to listen to what God is calling us to do.
HEAVEN
Heaven is at present out of sight, but in due time, as
snow melts and discovers what it lay upon, so will this visible creation fade away before those greater splendors which
are behind it. —John Henry Newman
REMINDERS
People more frequently require to be reminded than
informed. —Samuel Johnson
