A Familiar Face…
We would like to officially welcome Mrs. Rosa A. Hood, our Principal here at AVECHS. Mrs. Hood has
always played a vital role from the beginnings of what is now Alta Vista Early College High School. We
truly appreciate her willingness to join us mid-year. There is no doubt that AVECHS will continue
‘soaring to new heights’ under her leadership.

Finishing Strong…
With end-of-the-year exams, projects, events, and teacher appreciation, the last weeks of school can be
hectic. However, as we come to an end of yet another year it is important that we help our students finish
strong. Please consider the following suggestions for ensuring a great end to the year:

Encourage your child to mark their calendar, it is very helpful to have a written record of all the
things that have to be done including due dates and necessary resources.
Have your child complete their assignments in the order in which they are due. Doing so will ensure
they do not suffer a last minute time crunch.
Many summative assessments take place at this time, therefore encourage your child to keep studying until the end of the year.
Help your child stay focused and organized, before we realize it, the year will be over. Giving us all
a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction
Zeros are Prohibited(ZAP)…
As the year progressed our teachers along with the administration saw an increase in the number of assignments not being turned in or being turned in late with no regard to deadlines. However, it is important to your child’s academic growth that they stay up-to-date with all assignments and learning for
mastery of the required curriculum of each of their classes. In order to help our students, we have implemented an intervention we call ZAP-Zeros Are Prohibited.
If a student does not turn in his or her required assignments the following actions will take place:
 Teacher will verbally remind the student and will document the conversation
If work is still not turned in
 Teacher will call home to make parents aware of missing assignments. We encourage our parents to
sign onto Parent Portal to see if their child is missing any work.
If work is still not turned in
 Students will be required to attend an ‘extra assistance’ day that corresponds to the subject in
which the work is due. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent and student.
This is NOT a punishment, it is a means to remind our students that all assignments here at AVECHS
matter, therefore not doing them is not an option.
Recruiting...
AVECHS is preparing for next year, and during the months of March and February, we have been going
to the community to promote and recruit the fourth cohort of early college students. As we get ready for
the 4th year , we know that this would not have been possible if it wasn't for our parents and students. It
has been your belief in our High School that encourages others to join AVECHS. Together we are ensuring that more students have the opportunity to attend an early college high school in their district. Please
continue sharing yours and your child's positive experience here at AVECHS, If you have questions or

Our Mission Statement
Alta Vista Early College High School will provide a small, personalized, learning environment, consisting of parents, teachers, and the community, which prepares all students for success. Una cara conocida ...

Nos gustaría dar la bienvenida oficialmente a la señora Rosa A. Hood, nuestra principal aquí en AVECHS . La señora de la capilla siempre ha desempeñado un papel vital desde los inicios de lo que hoy es
Alta Vista Early College High School. Agradecemos sinceramente su disposición a unirse a nosotros a
mediados de año . No hay duda de que AVECHS continuará ' elevándose a nuevas alturas " bajo su liderazgo.
Acabado Fuerte ...
Las últimas semanas de la escuela puede ser agitada con todos los exámenes , proyectos , eventos y aprecio del profesor. Sin embargo, a medida que llegamos al final de un año más, es importante que ayudamos a nuestros alumnos ha
terminan fuerte. Por favor, considere las siguientes sugerencias para garantizar un gran final de año:




TEACHERS
Anime a su niño a marcar su calendario, es muy útil tener un registro escrito de todas las cosas que tienen que
hacer, incluyendo las fechas de vencimiento y los recursos necesarios.
Pídale a su hijo completar sus tareas en el orden en que se deben. Si lo hace, se asegurará de que no sufran una
crisis de tiempo de última hora .

Asistencia Adicional
A medida que el año va progresando nuestros maestros, junto con la administración han observado un aumento en el
número de asignaciones que no se entregaron o se entregaron tarde sin tener en cuenta los plazos. Sin embargo, es
importante para el crecimiento académico de que su hijo este al dia con todas las tareas y el aprendizaje para el dominio del currículo requerido de cada una de sus clases. Con el fin de ayudar a nuestros estudiantes, hemos puesto en
marcha una intervención que llamamos ZAP-ceros son prohibidos.
Si un estudiante no entrega sus tareas necesarias las siguientes acciones se llevarán a cabo:
 Maestro verbalmente recordar al estudiante y documentará la conversación
Si el trabajo aún no se entrega después del recordatorio
 Maestro llamará a la casa para que los padres estén conscientes de que la tarea alta. Animamos a nuestros padres
de que se escriban en el Portal de Padres para ver si su hijo han entregado sus trabajos.
Si el trabajo aún no se ha entregado después de la llamada a casa
 Los estudiantes tendrán que asistir a una jornada de "ayuda adicional" que corresponde a la materia en la que el
trabajo se debe. El transporte será responsabilidad de los padres y el estudiante.
Si su hijo está en la necesidad de asistencia académica adicional o simplemente
necesita más tiempo en la computadora ,
para terminar edgenuity o el trabajo en
clase . A continuación se presentan los

AVECHS se está preparando para el próximo año , y durante los meses de marzo y febrero, hemos estado
yendo a la comunidad para promover y reclutar al cuarto grupo de estudiantes de AVECHS. A medida
que nos preparamos para el cuarto año , sabemos que esto no hubiera sido posible si no fuera por nuestros
padres y estudiantes . Ha sido su fe en nuestra escuela secundaria que anima a otros a unirse a AVECHS .
Juntos estamos asegurando que más estudiantes tengan la oportunidad de asistir a una universidad durante la secundaria en su propio distrito. Por favor, seguir compartiendo su experiencia positiva de su hijo
