The Epiphany of the Lord 4th January 2015 (B) – Mass Book Pg 118

We are exited to announce that there will be a top class Performing Arts
Academy housed here at Our Lady, Star of the Sea. STARMAKER is a chain of
leading Performing Arts Academies in the Northwest, offering exceptional
dancing, singing and acting training. With success academies already located in
Poulton and Thornton-Cleveleys, we believe that every student should get the
chance to shine, gain confidence, improve literacy and communication skills, and
have fun, whilst learning new performance skills. We are connected to a
Manchester based Casting and Modelling Agency and will be looking for
potential talent to sign up to agency. Our student's credits include Playstation,
KFC, Merlin and CBBC.
The academy will open it's doors on Tuesday January 27th with a FREE Open
Day where there will be free workshops and giveaways including memberships
and t-shirts! The Open Day will run 4:30pm - 6:30pm and we urge all you
budding starlets to attend.

The annual week of prayer for Christian Unity takes place January 18 – 25 .
A group of clergy from the local churches have started meeting together and
hope to share once again what we can in the life and worship of our community.
To further this in the week of prayer there will be A Joint Ecumenical Service at

A Parish Success!
Thanks to one and all who supported
the Big Band Christmas Party which
was held in the Parish Centre. It was
a HUGE success. “Switched on
Swing” excelled themselves – with
fantastic music and plenty of
Christmas spirit. Many, many thanks
go to every one of their members.
And while we all had a super time,
we also made a healthy £300 profit
which helps to offset the costs of
running the centre (we’re going
through a very expensive time right
now!). And now another THANK
YOU! Sincere thanks go to our
Amateur Operatic Society (AOS) for
their very welcome cheque for £500,
presented to the centre at the
fabulous Knights of St Columba
(KSC) Carol Concert on 19th
December. Every penny raised by the
hard work, dedication and enthusiasm
of our AOS. The centre welcomes
and appreciates gifts like this so
much. (By the way, thanks to KSC
too - the concert was amazing.)
And finally – The monthly Coffee
Morning group has also been steadily
raising a few funds to try and offset
the costs which we occur at
the centre every month. So we too
are able to offer a humble £50 from
our coffers. Many thanks to our
regular supporters throughout
the year. Please keep supporting us –
and do share any ideas for improving
the Coffee Morning. Volunteers are
always so welcome. Please ring
Ann on 728819 if you want to be
involved this year. We’d love to
have you.
