ALL PARISHIONERS & our Christian brothers & sisters are invited to attend this special liturgy to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11th at 9 a.m.. The "Healing " portion of this liturgy is NOT the Sacrament of Anointing but a ritual that includes the bestowing of special oils on those who are physically, mentally, or spiritually in need of healing - which includes most of us! We urge everyone to attend this very unique liturgy! As in previous years, a delicious, free Breakfast will be served after the Mass through the generosity of the Knights of Columbus. If you know of anyone who would benefit from this Mass & ritual, please bring them along with you – all our Christian brothers and sisters are invited to attend! !You!are!invited! The Diocese of Victoria celebrates the Ordination of Deacon Harrison Ayre to the Priesthood on Saturday February 7th at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Cathedral and all are invited to attend. A noon Reception will follow at St. Andrew's Elementary School Gym. World Day of Migrants and Refugees January 18th A World Day of Migrants and Refugees is observed in many paces in solidarity with the World Refugee Day promoted by the United Nations and observed since 2001 on June 20. This January observance was instituted by Pope Pius X in 1914. “The phenomenon of migration today is a providential opportunity for the proclamation of the Gospel in the contemporary world” (Pope Benedict XVI,2012). Christ the King Refugee Support Committee Update As the New Year is in full swing, our committee is gearing up once again to raise funds for the Darwish family. We are having another jewellery sale during the Film Festival held at the Filberg Centre February 7th, 2015. Donations are welcome as all proceeds from the sale goes directly to our family. To-date, we have collected through donations and jewellery sales approximately $17,000. Thank you again for your generosity, however we still have much work to do as our goal is $35,000. The Darwish family is keeping safe in Algeria for now. The Canadian government approved their application before Christmas. The next step: the paperwork gets transferred to France for further processing where we anxiously await word from the Paris visa office as to the selected arrival date. In the meantime, household items have been graciously donated from all over the Comox Valley and continue. For this we are most grateful. At this point we are in need of smaller household items such as kitchen items, lamps, end tables and girls’ toys and clothing sizes 3-4 and 6-7 in good condition. All are invited to attend our January 29th meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King. Should you have any questions please contact Caron Mulgrew at [email protected] or 250 338-4136 God is with us! Reminder - Parking Lot Entrance/Exit A reminder of the traffic flow into and exiting our parking lot. Please be aware that the flow of traffic was changed to reduce the risk of accidents. The parking lot lines have been painted and we request all parishioners to respect the NO parking zones marked with yellow paint. Thank you. CWL News A copy of the CWL 2014 Financial Statement is available on the bulletin board at the Church entrance, on the bulletin board in the Assisi Hall and ten copies are available in the CWL mailbox in the foyer. This is to comply with the latest change to the CWL Constitution and Bylaws which states that all CWL members must have access to the final Financial Statement of the year prior to the Annual Meeting, which will take place at our February 3rd meeting. Thank You Sincere thanks for your generous remembrance at Christmas, especially for your prayers and Mass intentions. Sincerely, Fr. Joe Envelope Reminder When using your Parish Envelopes for St. Vincent de Paul donations, please write your name and address on the envelope. This will enable the Society to issue you receipts at the end of the year. Also cheques should be made payable to St. Vincent de Paul. Thank you for your generosity. 2015 Parish Offering Envelopes The 2015 Parish Offering Envelopes are available for pick up in the foyer. If you do not currently have a set and would like to begin using envelopes, call the parish office or fill out the form on the table near the envelope sets. Offertory envelopes are beneficial if you make weekly contributions to the parish. Parish envelopes are necessary if you wish to receive an income tax receipt. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY ENVELOPES FROM PAST YEAR’S. Since we have re-numbered some sets, if you use a set from a prior year, it may have been re-issued and you will not get credit for your donation. Thank you.
