Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary met on Monday,
December 29, 2014, at 6:30pm in
Vincent Hall. There were 7 members present
and 3 members excused. One guest attended
the meeting. The meeting was called to order
by the Spiritual Director and began with an
opening prayer and the Rosary. The minutes
and standing instructions were not read. The
treasurer’s report was given. The Catena was
recited. The Allocutio was “Mary Shows Us The
Way”. If we walk in the light, we may become
a sign of contradiction to those who hate the
light. (Jesus = Emmanuel; God, who saves us).
The Handbook Study was a discussion of Legion
of Mary goals for 2015. Once completed, these
goals will be presented to Father Ken. The
Legion of Mary works include establishing a
monthly mass held on the third Sunday of
the month, and, Individual Evangelization,
Promoting Faith and Mass;
Promotion of the Legion of Mary, Recitation of
the Rosary; Preparing the Allocutio, Visitation
of the Sick; Retreat Planning, and Works for
Developing Personal Holiness.
The next meeting is Monday,
January 5, 2015.

PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
offers prayer for healing, hope, and strength
and is intended for a Catholic at the
beginning of a serious illness, before
surgery or weakened due to age or chronic
infirmity. Viaticum, “Food for the
Journey”, is Holy Communion with special
prayers for the dying and serves as the “last
rites” for Catholics who are terminally ill
and in the last stages of life.
Our parish clergy are always willing to visit
hospitals to pray with and support those
who are ill. Sacraments in the hospital are
provided by the designated Catholic
Chaplain. Extraordinary Ministers of
Holy Communion generously make
themselves available to bring Holy
Communion to the home-bound of our
parish. Please contact the Parish Office
to arrange for any of these services.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
In accordance with Archdiocesan
Policy, couples contemplating marriage
are to begin their preparation for the
Sacrament of Marriage at least six months
before their anticipated wedding date.
Call the Parish Office or visit our website
for more information.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Parents and godparents of children to be
baptized are required to participate in
Baptismal preparation sessions. This can
be done even before the birth of the child.
Ordinarily, Baptisms are scheduled in our
parish once each month, following a
weekend Mass for all families celebrating
Baptisms at that time.
NEW PARISHIONERS
We are always happy to welcome new
parishioners to Our Lady of the Rosary
Parish, a parish over 100 years old, with a
rich history of dedicated service and
active Catholic Christian life.
Madison Jean Reed
New parishioners may sign the book in the
vestibule of the Church or contact the
Parish Office by email or phone to
become registered and active members.
