From the Pastor’s Desk
A wonderful story is told about a young lady who read a certain book and having completed it, remarked
that it was the dullest book she had read in many a day. Not long after this, she met a certain young man. In
the course of time their friendship ripened into love, and they became engaged. During a visit in the home of
his fiancée one evening, she said to him, “I have a book in my library which was written by a man whose
name and even initials are the same as yours. Is not that a singular coincidence?” “I do not think so,” he
replied. “Why not?” “For the simple reason that I wrote the book.” The lady sat up until the early morning
hours to read the book again. When she had completed it she thought it the most interesting book she had
ever read! The secret? She now knew and loved the author.
To some the scriptures are but another book, a collection of great wrings at best. But to those who know
and love the one who inspired the words, our scriptures are like no other.
Scripture comes alive and speaks to us always new and fresh, never dull or outdated. Perhaps we need to
stay up late and read it again remembering the love relationship our Lord offers.
Joshua 1:8-9 “Do not let this book of Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that
you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
It is very easy in our daily lives to be so busy that we don’t take time to be reading God’s word. Take
time today, and fall in love again with The Author.
