Does Jesus make and explain the Christian life in simple
understandable words or complicated and frustrating ideas?
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” Or “Love the Lord
your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all
your mind.” Jesus often gave simple, easy to understand
instructions. Can you remember seven words? “YOU SHALL LOVE
YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
How many of you heard the story of Ugly?

James 2:8 - If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according
to the Scripture, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,”
you are doing well.

Golden Rule: Love your neighbor the way the way you want
your neighbor to __________________.

Colossians 3:12 - As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly
loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,
gentleness and patience.

Matthew 7:12 - In everything, therefore, treat people the same
way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the
Prophets.
#1 - Positive Rule: Do to others what you would
_________________________________.
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,”

Rabbi Hillel said: “Do not do to others what you hate to have
done to you.

John F. Kennedy said in 1961: “Ask not what your country can do
for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”

Before you speak to someone ... you should THINK.
T ...is it _________?
H ... is it _________________?
I ... is it ______________?
N ... is it _________________________?
K ... is it ________________?
#2 - Proactive rule: _________________________________
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,”

Luke 6:27 - Jesus said, "Love your enemies, do good to those
who hate you, (28) bless those who curse you, pray for those who
mistreat you."

Two ways to give.
1. ____________________
2. _______________________________

Modern Americans do 1 of 5 things:
1. ________________.
2. ________________.
3. ___________________________.
4. _______________________________.
5. _________________.
#3 - _____________________ Rule.
Matthew 7:12 - “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,” and
Jesus said ... for this is the Law and the Prophets."

Someone once said, “If you will cheat in practice, you will cheat in
the game. If you cheat other people, you will cheat God. And
when you cheat God, you really cheat yourself.”

Another person said, “Sow a thought, reap an act. Sow an act,
reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character,
reap your eternity.”

James 2:8 - If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according
to the Scripture, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,”
you are doing well.
Next week’s verses are James 2: 9-13.
James 2:9 - But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are
convicted by the law as transgressors.
James 2:10 - For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in
one point, he has become guilty of all.
James 2:11 - For He who said, “DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,” also
said, “DO NOT COMMIT MURDER.” Now if you do not commit adultery,
but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
James 2:12 - So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by
the law of liberty.
James 2:13 - For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown
no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
4. Do this rule and you are doing ________________.
James 2:8 - If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to
the Scripture, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF,” you
are doing well.
