They had their Passover feast in which they remembered the day of their liberation. After three centuries of slavery, they left Egypt, crossed the Red Sea and set out on the road to the Promised Land. That is what the Passover was: leaving the past behind and looking decidedly towards the future. Christ inaugurates the new Passover: passing from evil to good, passing from a past of sin and selfishness to a future of sincerity and fraternal love. The sacrifice of Holy Week was only a preparation for the final resurrection. For us the sacrifice of carrying out our duty is not so much when compared with the joy of building a better society. The Passover for both Jews and Christians of every age is a look towards the future. The resurrection of Christ is an invitation to transform our lives so that our words and action will build the road to the kingdom of God. Moreover, in accepting Christ each one of us commits to being the means of inspiration and transformation for the community that surrounds him. Each one of us is a messenger of the resurrection. Each one of us is an envoy for the kingdom of heaven. Happy Easter! Domingo de Resurrección (Ciclo B) Rincón del Párroco Este domingo lo llamamos de Pascua. Esta es una palabra que recuerda al pueblo judío. Ellos tenían su fiesta de Pascua. Recordaban el día de su liberación. Después de tres siglos de esclavitud, dejaron Egipto, atravesaron el Mar Rojo, y se encaminaron hacia la tierra prometida. Eso fue la Pascua: el dejar atrás el pasado y mirar definitivamente hacia el futuro. Cristo inaugura la nueva Pascua: el paso del mal al bien, el paso de un pasado de pecado y egoismo a un futuro de sinceridad y amor de hermanos. El sacrificio de la Semana Santa solo fue preparación para lo definitivo de la resurrección. Para nosotros el sacrificio de cumplir con nuestro deber no es tan grande si lo comparamos con la alegría de construir una sociedad mejor. He is among us, here, in the Square! This week we can continue to exchange Easter greetings, as though it were one single day. It is the great day which the Lord has made. Let us allow this experience which is inscribed in the Gospel also to be imprinted in our hearts and shine forth from our lives. Let us allow the joyous wonder of Easter Sunday to shine forth in our thoughts, glances, behaviour, gestures and words.... Whoever experiences this becomes a witness of the Resurrection, for in a certain sense he himself has risen, she herself has risen. He or she is then capable of carrying a “ray” of light of the Risen One into various situations: to those that are happy, making them more beautiful by preserving them from egoism; to those that are painful, bringing serenity and hope. The theme of the month was “Reflection”. Students learned and discussed ways to put into practice various forms and expressions of prayer and the importance of silence as a spiritual practice. These students have demonstrated this virtue not only by praying but by also sharing their faith with others and being intentionally aware of their surroundings and experiences. The Kindergarten class has been learning about animals and the environment. They recently took a class trip to the Environmental Center located at the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus. The center features a pristine lake, an endangered pine rock land, butterfly gardens, native plants, an organic garden, and a variety of animals. The students were able to get up-close to several animals and learn about their species and habitat. They also learned about helping the environment through reducing, recycling and reusing. The students had a fantastic time while learning. Page 10 St. Hugh On Saturday, March 21, 2015, the St. Hugh School Track and Field team attended the ACC Tri-County Championship Meet. All of our athletes fared very well in their individual events, but we are especially proud of the Junior Varsity Girls who brought home the Third Place Trophy in the overall team competition against all Catholic Schools. After much hard work and practice, they all pulled together to contribute to their team’s success. Every girl on the Junior Varsity Team medaled in at least one event, but 3 students finished in 1st place to be named Tri-County Champions in their individual events:  Isabella Camargo- 1st place in the JV Girls High Jump  Nadira Perry- 1st place in the JV Girls Shot Put  Daniel Perez- 1st place in both the Varsity Boys 100m and the 200m dash
