Peter Pence Collection
Next week our diocese will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which provides the Holy Father with the funds he needs to
carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds
benefit the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and
disasters. Join the Holy Father as a witness of charity to those
who are suffering.
Please Note Additional Mass on Tuesday 6/24/14 for
the Solemnity of John the Baptist. The Mass will be a
Sung High Mass in the Extraordinary Form at
7:00pm.

Knights of Columbus
John Carrell Jenkins Council #7771
The five-fold purpose of our council is: 1) help one another in times of sickness and death; 2) defend the Catholic faith; 3) promote Catholic Education
4) be a pillar of support for Catholic priests and bishops; and 5.)promote
vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
The next meeting will be held at 7:30pm on Wed. July 9, 2014 at Padre Pio
Hall. The meeting will be preceded by pizza with the Squires at 6:30pm
and Rosary at 7:10 pm. All brothers welcome.
Annual Corpus Christi Procession tonight—June 22
Everyone come to tonight’s Knight-sponsored, family-friendly Corpus
Christi Procession at 6pm! Bring your children and friends! A great opportunity to be a public witness for our Catholic faith. Also a very enjoyable
event. We will walk from the church to the gazebo for prayers, then back to

Officers who will lead John Carrell Jenkins Council #7771 during fraternal
year 2014-15, beginning July 1, have been elected by their fellow Knights.

Alex Wilson’ team completes fourth week of 12-week
“Walk Across America” for the unborn
As of Friday, June 20th, the team of pro-life walkers led by Alex (a senior-to
-be at Ave Maria University in Florida and son of parishioners Bob and
Linda Wilson) was near Elk Springs, CO in its pro-life, 3,350-mile Walk
across America. Next Friday will be in Fort Morgan, CO. The team has
walked 1,028 miles since departing San Francisco May 26. They will arrive
in Washington DC on August 15. See “Crossroadswalk.org. Keep Alex in

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium for ages 1 ½ - 12
John XXIII Montessori Children’s Center is currently accepting new
applications for a limited number of spaces in our Monday Toddler
Atrium for ages 1 ½ -3 where a parent attends with their toddler, Monday and Friday morning sessions for ages 3 - 6, as well as
our Friday morning or new Tuesday afternoon session for ages 612. This unique religious formation program, taught by catechists
certified by the National CGS organization, has been adopted by the
Missionaries of Charity, Franciscan Friars of Renewal, and Nashville
Dominicans. It allows God to speak directly to the child, helping the
child to fall in love with the person of Jesus. Please see our website

Duruflé Requiem
For the feast of All Souls Day, the choirs of St. John’s will sing the
Requiem, Op. 9 by the French impressionist composer, Maurice Duruflé. This setting of the Requiem Mass is deeply rooted in the original
Gregorian Chant. All singers in the parish are invited to participate in
this event. There will be two liturgical performances of the work:
Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 10:30 am (ordinary form) and Monday,
November 3, 2014 at 7:00 pm (extraordinary form).
Since the work is rather involved, we will begin rehearsals over the
summer according to the following schedule:
