Page 2 The Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ June 7, 2015 Congratulations to our 8th Grade Graduating Class! How We Worship The covenant God made with Israel and sealed through the sprinkling of the sacrificial animal blood was a relationship with God in which they were to hear God’s word and keep his commandments. Now rather than being sprinkled “with the blood of goats and calves” as we hear in today’s second reading, we drink the Blood of the risen Lord and by that action seal our new covenant with God. We are still to hear God’s word and keep his commandments, like of old, but now something else is added: we ourselves are to take up God’s redemptive work as we conform ourselves more perfectly to Christ and continue his self-giving ministry. Our everyday living is preparation for sharing in the Eucharist and receiving eternal Life. We sprinkle among the people with whom we live and work little acts of self giving, sealing our relationship with them and with God. This is how we “worship the living God”: by self-giving. —Living Liturgy NEW! Eucharistic Adoration Time We are adding an additional opportunity during the week for you to be able to adore and pray before the Blessed Sacrament. You are welcome to join us each Saturday from 3:30pm-5:00pm. “When you look at the crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then. When you look at the Sacred Host, you understand how much Jesus loves you now.” —Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Ascension Parish is hosting a presentation on End of Life Issues Saturday, June 13th at 7pm in their Parish Hall Doctors George Delgado and Henry Ng will provide updates on Euthanasia legislation, palliative care and hospice care, Advanced Directives and more end of life issues discussed from a Catholic perspective. GIFTS OF OUR TREASURY THE WEEK OF May 31, 2015 General Collection Average Weekly Parish Operating Costs Deficit for the week of May 31, 2015 Building Fund—May 31, 2015 $1,887.00 The gift of your treasure helps us meet our weekly obligations. Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks, just before He gave Himself to us completely for our salvation. He offers us the chance to drink from His cup. In the Eucharist, we meet Christ personally and, if we listen to Him, we know what drinking from His cup means for each of us. Often, it means our own sacrifice – giving up some of our time, talent and treasure to do His work on earth. Please Pray For Welcome to St. Didacus Parish!
