2014 Spring HOD Report John Skroch -Age Group Vice Chair All Stars The 2014 All Stars Meet is a high level competition which PNS was invited to participate. PNS had 32 swimmers, as well as swimmers from Southern California- So Cal, and Pacific Swimming, and Oregon Swimming. This year the meet was held at Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington. Coaching staff was Patricia Jenkins, Cindy Holland, Bridget Crowley, Greg Mercer Administrator/Coach: John Skroch Chaperones: Thad Hovis, Mark Cleary The venue for the All Stars meet was set pretty quick in timeframe. The athletes from remote and local teams stayed at the Red Lion Hotel, just a few miles from the Evergreen Campus. As head coach, (Patricia Jenkins) I want to thank the coaching staff and chaperones for preparation for the meet and keeping the swimmers focused in on their goals and having a little fun for the meet. The meet was available through Meet Mobile for parents and spectators. The college and Evergreen Swim Team did an outstanding job in running the meet. The inspiration the swimmers received from being able to participate in this meet was outstanding. I have felt that the swimmers really internalized the goal of walking away from the meet, and staying comrades with the other swimmers from other PNS teams. The kids have gone out of their way to remember to “say hi” if they crossed paths with these All Star members after the close of the meet! I also have seen them progress toward achieving zone standards to participate in the 2014 Zones meet held in Federal Way in 2014. Great Job Swimmers! Top Performances at the Meet: Kevin Houseman (11-12) boys placed first 50 yd breaststroke Ethan Dang (11-12) boys placed first in 100 yd breaststroke Mitch Hovis (13-14) boys placed first in the 200 yd breaststroke 2014 Catch the Spirit Camp This year’s camp is being held on Bainbridge Island. Carolyn Ackerley is running the camp. 14&U Age Group Zones - Applications should be available in the next week . Website will registration will be open when the application is posted. Selection criteria is posted on the PNS website. The meet will be conducted as a team travel meet this year. Details will be included in the application.
