In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming
shall be free from any liabilities or claims or damages arising by reason of
injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event.

FACILITIES:
Elevation 5796 feet. 25 yard indoor pool, 7 lanes with continuous warmup/cool down lane. Limited deck space, seating available in the adjacent
gymnasium. No chairs will be allowed on deck. The competitions course
has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C (4). Water depth: 4 feet at
shallow end; 6’3”-12’ at diving end. All races will start at diving end.
TIMING:
Colorado Timing System with touch pads and electronic display board will
be used for all events with the exception of 25 yard events, which will use
stopwatches for times. Back-up timing will consist of one button and two
stopwatches. Hy-Tek Meet Manager software will be used.

Saturday Warm-up: 11 am - 12:20 pm Start: 12:30 pm
Sunday Warm-up: 7:30 am – 8:50 am Start: 9:00 am
ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all Zone 4 swimmers who are registered with 2014 USA Swimming
membership card. Swimmers on the CSI exceptions report without
registration must come to the meet prepared to show proof of membership,
or they will be deck registered before they can enter the water. A surcharge
for deck registration will also apply: $27 year round, plus the normal
registration fee.
Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming
member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start
each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach,
it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to
ensure compliance with this requirement.
FORMAT:
There are a variety of Challenges available at this meet! Only swimmers who
indicate on their entries which Challenge category they intend to compete in,
and who complete all events in that category, will be eligible to receive an
award for that Challenge category. Any swimmer may elect not to participate
in a Challenge category and simply enter events of their choosing, however,
they will not be eligible for an award. Each swimmer may enter up to 4
individual events per day.
10 & under IM Challenge events: 25 free, 25 back, 25 breast, 25 fly, 50
free, 100 IM
Pentathlon Plus Challenge events: 50 free, 50 back, 50 breast, 50 fly, 100
free, 100 IM
Open IM Lite events: 100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 free, 500 free,
200 IM
Open IMX Challenge events: 200 back, 200 breast, 200 fly, 500 free, 200
IM, 400 IM
Open Distance Challenge events: 500 free, 1,000 free, 1650 free, 400 IM
SCORING:
AWARDS:
Hy-Tek Age Group points will be used to score all events, Swimmers must
be entered in all of an individual Challenge's events to be eligible for
awards.
Swimmers must compete in all events in their Challenge category to qualify
for an award. If a swimmer disqualifies, he/she will be ineligible for awards
All disqualified swims will be reported to CSI as disqualifications, not as
legal swims with the adjusted times.
Awards will be given to both male and female swimmers as follows:
All Swimmers completing a Challenge will receive a Participation
Award. Entry Chairperson must submit a list of swimmers
10 & under IM Challenge: Special Award for winner, Medals 2nd – 3rd,
Ribbons 4-8th. for 8& Under and 9-10
Pentathlon Plus Challenge: Meet award for winner, Medals 2nd – 3rd,
Ribbons 4-8th for 8& under, 9-10, 11-12 and 13& Over age groups.
Open IM Lite Challenge: Meet award for winner, Medals 2nd – 3rd,
Ribbons 4-8th in 10& under, 11-12, 13& Over
Open IMX Challenge: Meet award for Winner, Medals 2nd – 3rd, Ribbons
4-8th
Distance Challenge: Meet award for winner, Medals 2nd – 3rd, Ribbons 48th.
RULES:
Current 2014 USA and CSI rules will govern the format of the meet.
Age as of May 17, 2014 will determine the swimmer’s age group. Exhibition
swimming will not be allowed.
All entries must include times or “NT.” Submit short course yard times only.
The meet will be pre-seeded, except the 1000 and 1650 free. The 1000 free
and 1650 free events require positive check-in 30 minutes prior to the start of
the first session each day. These events will be swum fastest to slowest,
alternating girls then boys, with a combined heat possible at the discretion of
the meet referee. Heat sheets will be posted after positive check-in closes.
500 free participants will be required to provide a counter. 1000 free and
1650 free event participants will be required to provide two timers plus a
counter. Please be courteous of other swimmers and coaches by respecting
these courtesy times. 500 Free - 8:30; 1000 Free – 16:00; 1650 Free – 26:30
8 & under swimmers will be started from the blocks in the 25 yard races. We
will be using watch times for these events.
Colorado Swimming, Inc. warm-up procedures will be observed. We reserve
the right to revise warm-up times and lane assignments should the number of
entries warrant such a change. At a sanctioned competitive event, USA
Swimming athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA
Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition and warm down.
Swimmers at the meet without a coach must report to the Meet Director or
Meet Referee to make arrangements for such supervision.
We have the right to change the format of the meet should the number of
entries warrant such a change. The meet director reserves the right to
reorganize the session(s) to accommodate the 4-hour rule.
The meet referee will have the final authority on all procedures regarding the
conduct of the meet. The referee may combine individual events by age,
gender and/or distance. All coaches and uniformed officials must display
their USA/CSI cards when on deck. Current certification is mandatory.
Coaches that are in noncompliance will not be allowed on deck.
ENTRIES:
Swimmers may enter up to 4 events per day.
ENTRY FEES:
$3.50 per event and $12.50 Pool Surcharge. $.15 per event goes to Zone 4
Swimming. All entries will receive a 2014 IMX Beanie. Make checks
payable to Sopris Barracudas.
Please bring all checks to the pool and present to Clerk of Course prior
to warm-up the first day of the meet.
ENTRY
PROCEDURE:
E-mail entries are preferred. “NO TIME” or incorrect times will be placed
in the slowest heat. Times for all events should be in short course yards
E-mail entries to: [email protected]. When you email the entries, also
attach a word document of the Hy-Tek Meet Entry Report by swimmer. If
you don’t receive an email confirmation your entries were not received.
Checks may be hand-delivered at the meet. Awards and t-shirts will not be
distributed until checks are received by the Clerk of Course.
All entries must be sent to the entry chairman. If sending overnight mail,
please waive the signature. DO NOT SEND ENTRIES TO THE POOL.

DECK
ENTRIES:
Deck entries will be accepted for open lanes. No new heats will be created.
You may deck enter beginning at the start of each session’s warm-ups. Deck
entries will close 30 minutes before the start of each session.
The deck entry fee is $8 per event. Swimmers not previously entered into the
meet must pay the $8 per event deck entry fee plus the $12.50 entry fee.
Swimmers not previously entered in the meet must present their USA
Swimming registration card or show proof of current membership through
their Deck Pass account: www.usaswimming.org/deckpass at the Clerk of
Course to be able to deck enter.

PROGRAMS:
Heat sheets will be posted on www.teamsopris.org by Thursday, May 15.
Programs will not be available at the meet. Please be sure to print heat sheets
and bring them with you.
RESULTS:
TM results will be posted on the Team Sopris Barracudas website at
www.teamsopris.org within 48 hours. Teams providing a formatted disk or
thumb-drive and using Hy-Tek for the results will be accommodated. Results
will be emailed upon request.
LODGING:

PARKING:
There is ample parking at the Community Center. Please limit your parking
to the front lot. Unauthorized cars parked on the east side of the pool are
subject to towing.
OFFICIALS:
Please remember to bring your “whites” and ID as we will need many
officials to cut down on the deck time each official works over the two days.

TIMERS:
Each team should be prepared to provide timers throughout session one and
session three. Individual swimmers/teams must provide their own timers and
if desired counters for session 2- 1000 free and session 4-1650 free.
SPECIAL
INFORMATION:
No smoking on the pool deck, in the building or any area frequented by
swimmers. Any damage to pool property will be grounds for dismissal from
the remainder of the meet and the offenders will be held liable to the fullest
extent that the law allows. NO CHAIRS WILL BE PERMITTED ON THE
POOL DECK. Please plan to set up in the gym or outside, weather
permitting.
Use of audio and visual recording devices, including cell phone, is not
permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.
CSI restricts access to any photography from the behind the blocks. Picture
taking on the deck will be restricted to areas in front of the starting
platforms.
Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of
swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is not
appropriate and is prohibited.
