Welcome
On behalf of the Worthington Swim Club, it is our pleasure to welcome your club to participate in
the Kelly German Memorial Meet, on January 23-25, 2015.!
The format of the Kelly German includes 2 separate events: - The Ultimate Challenge feature morning prelims (National BB standards or faster) and
evening finals (top 12 swimmers after prelims) with a Friday night timed-final session. - The Premier Challenge feature timed-finals (no time standards). 8 and under swimmers
will compete in the morning session, 9 and over swimmers will compete in the afternoon
session.!

Facility Location and Directions
C. David Howell Worthington Pools Complex, 400 West Dublin Granville Road (State Route
161), Thomas Worthington High School Campus, Worthington, OH. The facility has a 6-lane,
25-yard pool with a fully automated Colorado touch pad timing system and readout.
Exit Route 315 at Route 161. Proceed east on Route 161 from Route 315 crossing the
Olentangy River. The Thomas Worthington High School athletic fields will be on the left. Turn left
(north) at the traffic light at the athletic fields. The Natatorium is just east of the football field.
The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). Water depth
measured for a distance of 3 feet 3 1/2 inches (1.0 meter) to 16 feet 5 inches (5.0 meters) from
both end walls is as follow: From deep end: 8 feet (at 1 meter); and 12 feet (at 5 meters).!
From shallow end: 3 feet 11 inches (at 1 meter); 4 feet 9 inches (at 5 meters). !
No parents or spectator will be allowed on deck except to perform a service or function at the
request of meet officials. Equipment bags, towels and swimmers are not permitted on the
bleachers. Please keep all thoroughfares in the building, especially hallways, stairs and door
areas, open and free of equipment and chairs. No alcohol or tobacco shall be consumed in the
venue. Please park only in designated spaces and help keep traffic lanes near pool open at all
times.

Entries
!
Entries will be accepted on a first come-first served basis starting Monday January 5,
2015 at Noon. Entries are due to our Entry Chair by 9:00pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
Entries will be limited to the first 550 swimmers in order to keep each session under 4
hours. Teams will be notified within 2 days of receiving the entries if their team entries
are returned.!
Fees for Individual Events: and Deck Entries: $6.00 per individual event for Ultimate Challenge $5.00 per individual event for the Premier Challenge $1.00 per swimmer for Ohio Swimming Travel Fund $1.00 per swimmer for Championship Meet Facility Charge Deck Entry Fees: $10!

Procedures
!
1. No swimmer will be permitted to compete unless the swimmer is a member of USA
Swimming as provided in Article 302. USA Swimming registrations will not be accepted at the
meet. !
2. Each contestant may enter a total of three (3) individual events per day for the Ultimate
Challenge and four (4) individual events for the Premier Challenge. !
3. Qualifying Time Standard: National BB Time Standards or faster for the Ultimate Challenge.
No qualifying standards will be used for the Premier Challenge. !
4. Please submit only best short-course yard times for seeding. All times must be able to be
verified against USA Swimming’s SWIMS database. NT (No Time) entries will not be
accepted. The meet host reserves the right to enter its swimmers at NT.!
5. Bonus events for the Ultimate Challenge: Swimmers who have achieved fewer than 3
individual event time standards per day may supplement their entry with bonus events using
the following format: 1 qualified = 1 bonus, 2 qualified = 1 bonus, 3 qualified = no bonus.
Bonus event is to be selected for the same day as the qualified event(s). Please be certain
to check the box indicating “bonus” for each event that is a bonus entry.!

6. Positive check-in will be required for the 500-yard Free and the 400-yard IM events on Friday
evening. All other events will be pre-seeded for all sessions and will not be re-seeded on
deck in the event of a scratch, except at the discretion of the on-deck referee. !
7. IN ACCORDANCE WITH USA SWIMMING INC. RULES AND OHIO SWIMMING: ”On the
final day of a prelim/finals meet, failure of any unexcused athlete to properly scratch finals or
consolation finals shall result in a $50.00 penalty fee being charged against that swimmer.
The penalty fee shall be paid promptly to the host team”. !
8. Swimmerʼs age on January 23, 2015 will determine the eligibility for the age division of the
Ultimate Challenge. Swimmerʼs age on January 24, 2015 will determine the eligibility for the
age division of the Premier Challenge. !
9. Warm-up procedures: Each team will be assigned a specific lane and time for each session.
Please check for warm-up times and assignments on the web site on Monday October 13.
Swimmers must enter the water with one hand in contact with the pool except under
coachesʼ supervision in lanes specifically set aside for diving at prescribed times. During
warm-up sessions each team will be assigned a specific lane for that warm-up period only.
We reserve the right to make changes to the warm-up procedure if it becomes necessary for
the safety of the swimmers. Please include an email address so we can notify you if things
need to be changed.!
10.All 400 and 500-yard individual events will be deck seeded with the first heat comprised of
the slowest times entered and the last heat comprised of the fastest times entered.
Swimmers must check-in for deck-seeded events. Check-in for all deck-seeded events will
close 45 minutes prior to the start of the session in which the even will be swum.!
11.All coaches will be required to sign-in prior to each session and present their USA Swimming
Coaching Membership Card to a Meet Director.!
12.The Meet Director reserves the right to limit the 200, 400, and 500-yard events to the fastest
three (3) heats, if necessary to keep sessions under 4 hours.!
13.Swimmers in 500-yard events must supply their own lap-count person.!
14.Scratching from Finals: - Any swimmer qualifying for a consolation or championship final in an individual event who
fails to compete in said final shall be barred from his/her next individual event, except as
noted in ‘Exception for Failure to Compete’ below. A declared false start under 101.1.3F or
deliberate delay of meet under 101.1.5 is not permitted and will be regarded as a failure to
compete. ! !
- In the event of withdrawal or barring of a swimmer from competition the Referee shall fill the
consolation or championship final, when possible, with the next qualified swimmer(s). First
and second alternates shall be announced along with the final qualifiers. The alternates shall
not be penalized if unavailable to compete in the finals. - Where consolation finals have not been swum and a barring or withdrawal is known to the
Referee, the Referee shall reseed the consolation and championship final, if necessary, to
insert the alternate(s) in the appropriate lane(s), filling all lanes in the final. - If the consolation final has already been contested, the championship final shall be swum
without reseeding for the empty lanes(s). - Failure to scratch consolation or championship finals according to the rules above shall
result in a $50.00 penalty fee per event against the swimmer if the event is his/her last event
of the meet. The penalty fee shall be billed to the club and paid to the host group member. - No penalty shall apply for failure to withdraw or compete in an individual event if:
- The Referee is notified in the event of illness or injury and accepts the proof thereof. - A swimmer qualifying for a consolation or championship final race based upon the
results of the preliminaries notifies the Clerk of Course within thirty (30) minutes after the
announcement of qualifiers for that race that they may not intend to compete and further

declares their final intentions within thirty (30) minutes following their last individual
preliminary event. - It is determined by the Referee that failure to compete is caused by circumstances
beyond the control of the swimmer. !
15.Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as
being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water.
When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the
swimmerʼs legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.!
16.Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing
areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms.!
17.Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited.
18.Swimmers with Disabilities:!
- Enter the swimmer on Hy-Tek or the paper entry form. !
- Provide advance notice of any necessary accommodations. !
- List in the email with the Hy-Tek entry (or on paper) the swimmerʼs name, entry times, !
strokes/distances, days/sessions, and how the swimmer prefers to be seeded. Swimmers !
with a disability will be seeded with the same age group in either the same distance race !
or a longer distance race (i.e., 50 free during 100 free). Awards: Ultimate Challenge: Medals will be awarded for places 1-6 and ribbons will be awarded for
places 7-12. Team trophies will be awarded in three age group categories (10 and under,
11-12, and13-14). Premier Challenge: Ribbons will be awarded for places 1-12 in individual events for both
genders and in each age group (9-10, 11-12, 13-14) and heat winner ribbons. 8 & Under
swimmers will be awarded medals for places 1-6 and ribbons for places 7-12. Final Results: Complete results and Hy-Tek results files will be put on the Worthington Swim Club website, www.worthingtonswimclub.org, within 24 hours after the final results are complete. One hard
copy of the final results will be sent only if a written request is submitted with the entries. It is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages
arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event.
