It’s beginning to look a lot like...
It's Time for Our Annual Sharing Tree!
Our Sharing Tree will be in the foyer of the
church beginning November 22. It is easy
and fun to be a part of this wonderful
ministry that helps children and senior
citizens in our community.
FANCY CHRISTMAS COOKIES
Simply choose from the red, green, blue
or yellow tags on the Sharing Tree display
boards. Each red and green card specifies
a girl/boy of a particular age; blue cards
are for senior citizens, and yellow cards
are for gift-wrapping supplies. Select one or several
cards. Purchase a new toy or gift card, attach the
Sharing Tree card to your UNWRAPPED gift (we let the
grown-ups experience the joy of wrapping for their
child) and return your gift to church on the weekends of
either December 6/7 or 13/14.
YUMMY FUDGE
ALL NEW THEMED BASKETS
SATURDAY, DEC. 13th AND SUNDAY, DEC. 14th
for sale after all Masses.
All proceeds go to support our Seminarians!
Presented by YLI
CK Checks will have gift cards—for most major retailers,
restaurants and grocery stores—available for purchase
after most Masses through the Christmas season. Gift
cards make very nice gifts for older children and senior
citizens. The CK Checks representative will even collect
your Sharing Tree gift cards on the spot!
In addition to the gift items requested on the cards, we
invite you to contribute items such as:
bar soap
dish soap
shampoo
conditioner
toilet paper
facial tissue
paper towels
antiperspirant
lotion
laundry detergent
cleansers
multi-purpose cleaner
(chlorine-free)
toothpaste
mouthwash
Please place these household items in the decorated
laundry baskets in the foyer.

Spiritual Practices
All of the sick members of our
parish — especially these:
Ignatian Spirituality
Our world is full of suffering and evil. The Christian term
for this disorder is sin. In his autobiography, Ignatius
described himself as scrupulous – too focused on his
sinfulness. The only way he could escape it was to embrace the mercy of God. He explained that sin can be
seen through two prisms: 1) Lack of gratitude in the
face of God’s continuing gifts. 2) Lack of reverence for
God. During Advent, the church, as well as the Spiritual
Exercises, are focused on sin and forgiveness, and preparing for Christ’s coming. In the Exercises through
prayer, we try to uncover ways that we lack reverence
or gratitude, and get pulled from God and toward self.
As we do so, the Exercises direct us to ask for two graces: 1) shame that we’ve hurt God through our sinfulness, and 2) confusion that we could still sin, even as
we are so loved.
The next SEEL meeting is Saturday, December 13,
9:30 a.m. to noon in the Youth Center. We encourage
all participants and alums to join us. Contact Ellen at
www.spiritual-exercises.com or on Facebook (https://
www.facebook.com/IgnatianspiritualityNW) for more
information.

James: Pearls for Wise Living – one of the most
practical books of the Bible. Like the book of Proverbs,
it is a book of wisdom, a collection of teachings on
issues faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life.
This study offers “pearls for wise living” by applying
the wisdom of James to the present. For anyone who
has struggled to live a truly Christian life, James offers
a wealth of practical solutions.
