questions all she knows when she runs away from home and
encounters the reality of living in the racist south. Starla's ideas
of life are challenged, one after another, as she meets a young
black woman who becomes a true friend yet, being black, cannot be found helping Starla. This novel will make you think of
"To Kill a Mockingbird" and "The Help" as it describes the racist
views of the characters portrayed in the story. Yet this story will
also give you hope that things can change and there can be
understanding. A wonderful story with an unforgettable nine
year old star. Beautiful!
The Reading Centre is also looking for a student, 16 or older, to work Saturdays from 2-4pm. This student must be able to
work independently, be reliable and have an understanding of
libraries. They will be paid $10.50/hour. Resumes can be
dropped off at the Reading Centre, Attn: Christine.
See you at the library!
