SESSION ACTIONS
JANUARY 13, 2015
A regular meeting of the Session of the Riverdale Presbyterian Church was held at Duff House on Tuesday,
January 13, 2015. The meeting opened at 7:30 PM.
The following motions were MOVED, SECONDED AND APPROVED:
That the annual meeting of the Riverdale Presbyterian Church be held on Sunday, February 8,
2015 in the church auditorium immediately following the worship service.
To approve the 2015 budget as presented by the Treasurer, excluding the Pastor’s compensation,
which will be voted on at the annual meeting..
As requested by Emily Peterson, Charter Representative for Boy Scout Troop 240, that the
Ranachqua Foundation, an organization that provides camperships and college assistance to Boy
Scouts and Cub Scouts, hold a fund raising event in the church auditorium the evening of
May 2, 2015.
The following items are noted:
That the Board of Deacons will begin serving communion to the homebound.
That committees complete a form similar to the form completed by groups using the facility to
outline their activities, insuring clarity as to the details of their events.
Respectfully submitted,
Denise Halabov
Clerk of Session
The WICKS will meet in February on Tuesday the 3rd, and Tuesday
the 10th. We are hoping our meeting on the 3rd will be a Social
event at a local restaurant for lunch and planning future
projects. If you are interested in attending the luncheon, please let
Joan Aldred know by Monday, January 26th. As you know the
Christmas Bazaar was a big success on so many levels. To all who
participated whether creating crafting , selling at our table, or in
any other way -- THANK YOU.

How to Speak Presbyterian…
What Does Great Ends of the Church Mean?
A kind of mission statement, the six “great ends” (or chief purposes) of
the church are outlined in chapter 1 of the PC(USA)’s Book of Order:
-the proclamation of the Gospel for the salvation of humankind;
-the shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God;
-the maintenance of divine worship;
-the preservation of the truth;
-the promotion of social righteousness;
-and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.

Stewardship Update
So far, we've received pledges for 2015 totaling $135,080. Our church budget is close to
$200,000. If you have not pledged, please consider doing so as soon as possible. Simply call
the church office at 718-796-5560, or fill out the pledge card that was sent to you last fall
and mail it to the church or drop it in the offering plate. We need all RPC members and
friends to help support the work of our church.

Youth Mission Trip
Grand Rapids, MI
June 27-July 4
The RPC Youth will learn Christ-like empathy and compassion for others as they meet the spiritual,
physical, and emotional needs of disadvantaged children, youth, and adults. As students serve Christ and
the people of God, they’ll develop friendships with the people being served, with teenagers on other
teams, with members of their own youth group, and, most importantly, with Jesus. Denominational
differences disappear as like-minded youth work together for a common purpose. It’s awesome to watch!
Projects that teams will do include:
• Providing meals to the homeless
• Tutoring poor or struggling children
• Helping to lead a day camp for kids
• Organizing a home or sprucing up a dilapidated home
• Painting a room or deep-cleaning a home
• Working with disabled children
• Sharing stories with a lonely elderly person in an assisted-living facility
YOUTH WHO ARE 12-18
ARE WELCOME TO GO ON THE MISSION TRIP
THE NEXT TEAM MEETING WILL BE
FOLLOWING WORSHIP ON JANUARY 25TH.
