Catholic Catechism – taken from Catechism in a Year What should you do once you have come to know God? Once you have come to know God, you must put him in the first place in your life. And with that a new life begins. You should be able to recognize Christians by the fact that they love even their enemies. After all, to know God means to know that He who created and willed me, who looks at me every moment with love, who blesses and upholds my life, who has the world and the people I love in His hand, who waits longingly for me, who wishes to fulfill and perfect me and to make me dwell forever with Him, is there. To nod with your head at this is not enough. Christians must adopt Jesus' way of life. (YOUCAT question 34). STEWARDSHIP THOUGHTS In the first reading, Moses, speaking as a prophet, foretells the coming of a prophet raised up by the Lord who will tell the people all that God commands. In the Gospel we see Jesus, the greatest of all the prophets, teaching in the synagogue. The people were astonished because he was teaching with authority, a gift he handed on to the church. At baptism we were anointed priest, prophet and king. Being anointed means being given a mission by God. We live out this anointing as priest by praying for God’s people and carrying on the sacrifice of redeeming the world through our worship and our service. Anointed king, we’re called to be in communion with one another in the Holy Spirit, to listen to the cries of the poor, work for justice and to share our stewardship to strengthen the common good of all. As prophet, we’re anointed to witness to Christ in our daily lives, to speak the truth, to live in faith and to hear and proclaim God’s message to others. How well do you live out your anointing? How effective are you at proclaiming God’s word and sharing your faith? We’ve been offering an outstanding opportunity for you to grow in your knowledge of the faith through Generations of Faith & video series taught by Fr. STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITIES In His Name: We are collecting new warm socks for homeless children, men & women to be distributed through Project Hope at Hoban H. S. Donations may be placed in the basket at the main doors of the church. Service Day: Once again our parish will team up with St. Albert the Great Parish in North Royalton for a Lenten Service Day. The date is Sat., Mar. 7th and the project will be painting the vestibule (entrance) of the church. If you have some experience painting, then this is a stewardship project for you!
