Mrs. Reilly would like to congratulate Ms. Christiansen and the members of our FFA chapter for all their hard work on
last night’s district proficiency review. I heard nothing but excellent comments from the judges about the organization and
professionalism of our students. You represented Midland well!
Congratulations to FFA members:
 Madison Markmann, Madison Gravel, Mackenzie Petersen, and Colin Feuss on being approved for their State FFA Degree
that they will receive in April at State FFA Convention.
 Madison Markmann, Madison Gravel, Mackenzie Petersen, Morgan Petersen, and Kayla Bisinger on receiving their
Academic Award. This is awarded to seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA and active membership in the FFA for three years.
 Thank you to all who helped with Proficiency night, it was a great success!!
 Midland will be advancing three proficiencies to the state level: Madison Markmann - Gold - 1st in Home and Community
Development, Rylee Andresen - Bronze - 1st Landscape Management, and Ethan Wherry - Silver - 2nd Ag Mechanics
Repair and Maintenance. We also had two place third and are alternates to State: Cole Fishwild - Silver in Beef Production
- Entre and Eli Slouha - Silver in Diversified Agriculture Production.
 Ethan Wherry also ran for District FFA Office - The ballot has not been shared yet so we don't know if he has moved on to
the next stage yet.
COURSE SCHEDULING 15-16 - We will be having course scheduling meetings during RTI next week. Classes should
meet in room 125 to receive info on online scheduling through PowerSchool. You will all need your Powerschool username and
password to do this. You will have one week to complete online scheduling from date of meeting:
Juniors – 2/10, Sophomores – 2/11, Freshmen 2/12, 8th graders 2/13 5th-7th graders will have schedules completed later
NOTE – we are changing math curriculums so there may be some last minute changes to math classes beyond our control right now.
Mrs. Reilly will be meeting during RTI/Seminar time in room 125 with grade levels to discuss Bond Referendum in
detail on: Feb 23 7th/8th graders; Feb 24 11th/12th;
Feb 26 10th/9th;
Feb 27 6th graders Bring any ??s you may have.
There was an error on the school calendar sent out - Wed, Feb 18 is NOT a teacher inservice day, it is a full regular school
day. Please make this correction to your calendar at home.
Makeup days for snow days so far this year are as follows: Jan 7 will be made up on Fri, May 22; Feb 2 will be made up
on Tues, May 26 - as of now this is our last day of school and would be a 1:00 dismissal. Any further no school days due to
weather will be added to the end of the school year, so May 27, 28, 29...

on Saturday, Feb. 7 , at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. Our Acting Ensemble and Improv team will perform
at 9:00 and 4:00. State competitors are: Erin Shoaff, Kristin Guenther, Katie Stecklein, Brandon Orr, and Sierra Winey.

March 1 – 2015 Athletic Booster of the Year nominations due to office or booster officer. Write a short letter or email
stating who you think should receive the award and why. Nominate someone today students, athletes, coaches, staff, community!
Summer 2015 Drivers Ed – we have tentative schedules for class/drive times. If you plan to take drivers education next
summer please stop in the office to sign up and pick up a tentative schedule. Must have your driving permit by the first day of
class, must pay $400 class fee by first day of class, and agree to follow all class rules, their attendance rules are very strict so
be sure you can attend classes before committing yourself totally.

Check PowerSchool or ask at the office to see if YOU have any outstanding fees or ask at office, get those taken care of soon!
These bills don’t go away, they follow you until graduation so take care of them ASAP.
