From the CE
Welcome to the Autumn edition of Fundraising news,
the nights are drawing in, the leaves are falling rapidly and the heating is
coming back on. This is a lovely time of year in many ways. People’s thoughts
are turning towards bonfires, Halloween and Christmas. (I actually saw
Christmas decorations in one store on the 31st August!)
The efforts of the fundraising team, volunteer colleagues and our
supporters are certainly gearing up towards Christmas, with collections
for gifts and hampers underway. For those of us in settled and happy family
situations, Christmas can be a hectic time of planning, shopping, travelling
etc. For many of the people the Together Trust supports, Christmas
can be a time of worry, stress and anxiety - the support we get from
individuals, volunteers, corporate supporters and long standing supporters
such as Roughley’s Bikers, is absolutely vital in enabling us to give as many
people as possible a great time over the winter period.
We have had the privilege of being the nominated charity of the Stockport
Business Awards - a great event and a fantastic opportunity to
raise our profile with business leaders in Stockport and the North West.
Mark Lee, Chief Executive
Whilst the winter is immediately on people’s minds, thoughts are also
turning to the New Year. Do look inside this issue for opportunities to
challenge yourself and support the Together Trust. It could be a sporting
challenge or something scary (but safe!) such as wing walking.
I do hope you enjoy this issue and are inspired by some of the stories inside.
Take good care,
Mark Lee, Chief Executive

Wing Walk
Sunday 3rd May 2015, Breighton Aerodrome, Selby, North Yorkshire
If you have already done a skydive and/or are looking for a great adrenalin
fuelled challenge, a Wing Walk is the answer!
Aerobatic Tactics is the only company in the UK with permission from the Civil
Aviation Authority to legally offer wing walking experience flights to the general
public including wing walking for fundraising purposes.
Strapped into a 5 point harness on the upper wing of a Stearman biplane, you
will take off for a 10 minute flight experience, including zooms and climbs at up
to 130mph. After your flight, you will receive a certificate confirming you have
participated in a wing walk.
Registration is £100 (non refundable) with a minimum sponsorship target of
£1000. To register contact Julie Williams on 0161 283 4822, email
[email protected] or visit our website

We were delighted to be chosen as the charity
partner for Stockport Business Awards for 2014. The
Gala Dinner and awards ceremony took place on 2nd
October at the Hallmark Hotel.
The evening commenced with a drinks reception,
followed by a charity raffle and grand draw. We raised
a fabulous £5210 on the night. The funds will be used
to develop work experience opportunities for young
people supported by the Together Trust.
The partnership has been of significant value to
us. The funds raised on the night of the event are
clearly important, but it has also been incredibly
useful to increase our profile with businesses who
may be interested in working in partnership with us,
including offering work experience opportunities.
We’d like to say congratulations to all the award
winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who
supported us on the night, to the event organisers,
and to the event sponsors and companies that
donated prizes for the raffle and Grand Prize Draw.

Christmas Shopping Special: raise funds
whilst you shop at no extra cost to you!
How can I help Together
Trust, just by shopping
online?
Join thousands of other
shoppers supporting their
favourite cause.
It costs nothing. It’s 100%
secure. Get started in
minutes. Give as you Live
works with 3,663 leading
stores that have signed up to donate a commission on every online
purchase to the charity of your choice. This commission is already
included in the price of what you’re buying, so you can support your
favourite cause, at no extra cost to you. The commission varies, but the
average is 2.5%.
Introducing our fantastic new on-line store this
Christmas
Do you buy gifts on-line at Christmas or any other
time of year? If you do then we’d like to introduce
you to ‘Let’s Gift’, our new on-line store showcasing
a stunning range of gifts from hundreds of British
businesses.
You will find gifts to suit all personalities from gardeners to pet lovers
and to help mark all of life’s milestones from welcoming a new baby,
celebrating a special anniversary or remembering a loved one that has
passed away.
Let’s Gift is a brand new idea in charity fundraising. For everything you
buy from the store we receive 7%... the best thing is that’s not your
money – it’s a donation from Let’s Gift out of their profits. So now
you can buy fantastic presents for your family and friends at exactly
the same price or less than elsewhere, and have the satisfaction of
knowing Together Trust is receiving a donation that has cost you
nothing.
If you are buying a gift to send to a friend or relative they will know that
you’ve been thoughtful enough to not only give them a present but
give a gift to charity too.
You can have a look at the store by clicking on the Shop Online link
on our website at http://www.togethertrust.org.uk/fundraising
– so why not have a browse before you do your Christmas shopping,
if you find even one gift you’d like to buy then you will be helping us
enormously. If you’re impressed please tell your friends and relatives
and don’t forget to come back next time you’re shopping for a special
occasion.
It’s not too good to be true.
Every popular comparison website uses a similar model. With our
technology you can still get the best deals online by comparing millions
of products and thousands of brands, but with Give as you Live you can
also send a percentage of everything you spend to the charity of your
choice. All without spending a penny more.
How to get started:
Visit www.giveasyoulive.com/join/thetogethertrust
Install Give as you Live and start shopping as you usually do.
It’s that simple, and the beauty of this is, once you have registered with
Give as You Live, it will automatically pop up when you visit any
participating website and ask if you want the donation to be made.
Plus, if you sign up between now and Christmas, when you’ve raised
£5, Give as you Live will double your donation to us. FREE!
If you’d like to pamper your loved ones this Christmas,
why not choose from the Body Shop’s wide range
of beauty products. Body Shop Representative
Samantha Barlow has been supporting the Together
Trust for around 2 years now, and has donated over
£1500 from sales made to Together Trust supporters.
Products can be viewed at http://www.thebodyshop.

please call Samantha on 07791 051986.
Christmas Gift and Hamper Appeal
The challenging side to Christmas……
Christmas can be a difficult time of year for many of the young people
and families we support. For young people with autism, the change to
their normal routine can prove really difficult to cope with, and may
result in challenging behaviours that impact on the whole family.
Children and young people who live in foster care or residential care
can also find this a really difficult time. Whilst school friends are
celebrating with their families, they are likely to feel isolated and dwell
on the experiences that led to them being taken into care, especially
if they have been separated from siblings and have little or no family
contact.
For families of young people with disabilities, the challenges
faced often include financial issues. Many parents with caring
responsibilities are unable to work full time, and face additional costs
associated with their young person’s disability, such as increased
transport costs and costs of specialist equipment. Christmas can be
an expensive time, even without these additional costs.
For many years now we have run a Christmas Gift Appeal, to try
to ensure the young people and families we support have a happy
and memorable Christmas. Last year, in recognition of the financial
hardship faced by some of the families, and especially by young people
leaving care, we introduced a Hamper Appeal too.
This year’s appeal will be boosted with the annual Toy Drop from
Roughley’s Bikers, who have supported our appeal for many years.
On Sunday 7th December, over 200 bikers, many sporting Christmas
outfits, will descend on our Schools Hill campus to deliver gifts.
Samantha has donated significant funds from sales at some of our
Charity of the Year partners. If you would like to invite Samantha
into your workplace to sell her products and help raise funds, please
contact her on the above number.
Stamp Recycling
With Christmas fast approaching, there will be an increased
opportunity for you to help us raise funds through the collection of
used stamps. We recently raised £482.18. Please tear off the stamps
from the corner of the envelope and drop them off or send them
to the Fundraising Team, Together Trust Centre, Schools Hill,
Cheadle, SK8 1JE.
Thank you.
Our brand new Let’s Gift store will be live from mid-November.
Do you buy charity gifts at Christmas?
Then why not buy a subscription to the 50:50 lottery? Unlike other charity gifts, this is not only
a charitable gesture, it also gives the recipient the opportunity to win a prize. See back pages to
purchase a gift subscription.
How can you help?
We would welcome donations for both appeals, from individuals, and
from groups, schools and businesses. Donations can be dropped off
at our reception at Together Trust Centre, Schools Hill, Cheadle, SK8
1JE during office hours. If you are organising a collection from a school,
group or business, please contact Natalie on 0161 283 4883 or email
[email protected] to arrange a pick-up or to deliver
the items.
What do we need?
For the gift appeal, we are looking for new gifts e.g. toys, toiletry sets,
vouchers. We are especially keen to receive gifts suitable for older
teenagers, both boys and girls.
Please don’t gift-wrap your donations, as we need to see them to select
the most suitable gifts for each young person.
For the hamper appeal, we need non-perishable food items. These
might be store-cupboard staples like pasta, tinned foods and teabags,
but we’d also like to include household cleaning and personal hygiene
products, and of course, some tasty Christmas Treats!
When do we need your donations?
Hamper donations are needed by 8th December, to give our
volunteers time to make the hampers up and distribute them.
Gifts are needed by 19th December, to allow time for distribution.

Glass Walk
challenging your beliefs on what is possible!
Team Together Trust Challenge Events
Saturday 25th April 2015, Together Trust Centre
Glass walking is the act of walking across
hundreds of broken glass bottles. The
glass is razor sharp and very real. The
interesting thing about Glass Walking is
that anyone can do it! The activity,
performed correctly, is safe; however it is
essential that all participants follow the
instructions of the facilitator.
Deposit £20 with a £50 fundraising target.
The hardest part isn’t walking on glass, it’s
a matter of walking through the wall of fear
that hangs around you and inhibits you.
