October 11th Naturist Disco at Bentley Pavilion Please note this event has been CANCELLED Report of the YEM AGM This was held at the White Rose Club near York on Sunday 18th May. These notes are based on my notes at the meeting, not the official minutes which have yet to be agreed. The weather was glorious and the meeting was held on the patio by the pool after lunch had been provided by the catering team at White Rose. 1 The only change to the committee was that John Rushforth, who had done a splendid job as Regional Secretary has stood down and has been replaced by Julie Udris. Two existing officers on temporary placements Paul Battey (Youth Officer) and Andrew Calow (PRO) were both accepted for two year terms. There are changes made to the Region Constitution. There is also talk of having regional swimming competitions. Three of those attending the meeting had all taken part in the national BN gala over the years (though seemingly not at the same time). Saturday July 12th 5-15pm to dusk. Helmsley Walled Garden Due to popular demand we will be inviting all genuine naturists and newcomers to join us for another excellent evening at Helmsley Walled Garden, to strip off with like-minded people and enjoy the fully enclosed garden and greenhouse, all on a five acre site so there is plenty of-room for everyone. Tickets are £ 6.00 in advance or £8-00 on the gate. Tickets must be paid for by the 8th July to qualify for the £ 6.00 entry price. See the Flyer for more details. August 30th Yorkshire Sculpture Park. This is led by Hester Reeve, an artist who has shown live works both nationally and internationally over the last 15 years and lectures in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. Based initially on Plato's philosophy it will be a celebration of everyday passions by working with interest groups that have been formed by individuals dedicated to activities that enrich their own lives. Since it appears that Plato was a naturist, one hopes that BN members will be taking part au naturel. The groups include Cantabile choral group, Hand Tools Users United, The Magick Lounge Club, The Royal British Legion, Wakefield Pagan Moot, West Yorkshire Astronomical Society and Yorkshire Sun Society. All I can say is to keep this date free in your diary (and remember the Chapeltown Swim the day after. Saturday September 27th 19-00 to 22-30 Harrogate Turkish Baths An excellent opportunity to visit the unique refurbished Victorian Turkish Baths which are as much a part of the Harrogate scene as betty's Tea Rooms. The cost will be £17-50 (money in an envelope please). Please note that you will need to register by emailing [email protected] providing your name and address and saying how many places are needed. Also state if you are a BN member. 2 NUDESTOCK V By the time you read this Nudestock V will be just a memory. This even was held in May and let's face it, some of the weather was not conducive to naturist activities on the field. Fortunately the green barn (also known as the Corn Store after the midweek comedy gala) provides a shelter from the elements. My memory of Nudestock this year will not be winning at Bingo, or the comedy, but the sight and sound of two swans flying over the barn before landing some distance away. The sound of the beating of a swan's wing is something rare for me. To have two flying overhead is a sight and sound which will live long in the memory. Once again a special vote of thanks to the Wood family for hosting this event once again.
