Our SUMMER VISIT is on Sunday 18 MAY to MILLAIS NURSERIES th Crosswater Farm, Crosswater Lane, Churt, Surrey, GU10 2JN Chelsea Gold medal winning Rhododendron nursery. Woodland walks, tour of nursery, and area with plants for sale. An entry fee of £4 per head including tea and biscuits will be charged, with all profits going to the National Gardens Scheme. Time 2.30 – 4.00 pm Crosswater Farm is situated off Jumps Road, which runs from the A 287 FarnhamHindhead road across to the old Pride of the Valley pub (now The Bell and Dragon.) (It would be helpful if you could let the Secretary know approx. how many club members are interested.) SPRING TALK. What a joy it was to have the Spring Talk by Roy Lancaster on his Plantsman’s Garden. A full house thoroughly enjoyed his powerpoint presentation, which showed some of his favourite shrubs and trees, first in his front garden, then round to the back of the house. I think he would have answered questions for hours if we had let him! If you haven’t had a copy of the list of plants he showed, then please get in touch with Secretary Janet. The list was forwarded to all clubs with email, but there may be some others out there who would also like a copy. Trouble is, many of the plants he showed aren’t easily available commercially, but you can always look up the latest copy of The Plant Finder, which is also on the RHS website. (From personal experience, we grew Acer White Tigress a few years ago, but were told by the nursery from whom we got the young plants that they had stopped growing it as it was one of the snake-bark maples which tended to die-back on its stem, so they/we now grow Acer Viper instead.) Mind you, I don’t think a tree in Roy’s Garden would dare to die back! - Janet JUDGES AND LECTURERS LISTS. Please could you note the following alterations:- Mr. L. Apted.
