These past few weeks our mass attendance was
terrific. Many parishioners are obviously using Lent
Season as a time to re-connect with the parish and
that’s great! When everyone is here we feel good
than we are when many are not present. After all,
knowing Jesus is the best thing that can happen to
our lives.

En las ultimas semanas la asistencia a misa ha sido
estupenda. Obviamente muchos feligreses utilizan la
Época de Cuaresma para volver a iglesia y eso me
parece maravilloso. Cuando la asistencia a misa es
mayor nos da mucho gusto. Después de todo, el
conocer a Dios es lo mejor que nos puede pasar.
Our Christian life must have this kind of character:
Eagerness to meet Christ in whatever life situation.
I still believe that the person of Jesus and his
teachings still have a profound appeal to many
people in our society, even if they have little use for
a church. If our church is indeed experiencing a
“time of diminishment,” why not let that very fact
humble us and purify us? And at the same time,
make us even more eager to work hard to bring
people back to church. Let’s continue to encourage
one another! And may the world of our time, which
is searching always for the truth, justice and peace,
be anxious to live the gospel whose lives glow with
fervor and are willing to offer their lives so that
God’s presence may be proclaimed and the Church
established in the midst of the world.
Nuestra vida Cristiana debe tener esta clase de
carácter: Entusiasmo por conocer a Jesucristo. Yo
todavía creo que Jesucristo y sus enseñanzas tienen
un profundo atractivo para mucha gente de nuestra
sociedad, aunque no tengan que ver nada con la
iglesia. Si nuestra iglesia realmente se esta
disminuyendo, porque no dejar que eso nos haga
más humildes y nos purifique, y al mismo tiempo,
hacer lo que podamos para traer de regreso a la
iglesia, a toda esa gente que se ha alejado.
Continuemos alentándonos entre nosotros para que
esta generación, la cual busca siempre la verdad, la
justicia y la paz, este ansiosa por vivir el Evangelio
para que sus vidas brillen con fervor y estén
dispuestos a ofrecer sus vida para que la presencia
de Dios pueda ser proclamada y la Iglesia
establecida por todo el mundo.
The Palm Sunday is the start of the most solemn
week of the church year. This day gives us an
opportunity to listen to the Lord’s Passion; an
opportunity to acknowledge his kingship in his
procession into Jerusalem and then in his passion
and death. We begin Holy Week reflecting upon the
virtues of Jesus Christ that brought about our
salvation.
El Domingo de Ramos es el comienzo de la semana
mas Soléenme, del año, en la iglesia Católica. Este
día nos da la oportunidad de escuchar la pasión del
Señor: una oportunidad para reconocer su reinado
y su procesión hacia Jerusalén y luego su pasión y
su muerte. Comenzaremos la Semana Santa
reflexionando sobre las virtudes de Jesucristo que
nos llevaron a la salvación.
Today we wave palm branches and sing hosannas to
our King. What an awesome King we have! It is
before such a King that every knee must bend and
every tongue proclaim. Let us rejoice in our King,
Jesus Christ, and his gift to all humanity –
redemption on the Cross.
El día de hoy vamos a ondear las palmas y a cantar
hosannas a nuestro Rey. ¡Que Rey tan maravilloso
el que tenemos! Es ante este Rey que debemos
hincarnos y cada lengua debe de alabarlo. Vamos a
alegrarnos en nuestro Rey, Jesucristo y su regalo a
toda la humanidad, la redención en la Cruz. Hasta
que nos demos cuenta, que este es el Rey que nos
puede dar una vida nueva, si seguimos el camino de
la verdad, la justicia y la paz.

Palm Sunday
“Pilate again said to them, ‘Then what shall I do with the man whom you call the King of the Jews?’ And they
cried out again, ‘Crucify him.’” – MARK 15:12-13
Jesus told us “whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.” Every day we are presented
opportunities to help someone. Every day we have the opportunity to see the face of Jesus in others and be the
face of Jesus to others. Pray for the courage to stand up for those in need of our help.
Stewardship Reflection by Evelyn Silva:
When we hear the words spoken by Jesus it calls each one of us to reflect and ask ourselves the same question,
who is the least of my brothers? It is a call that beckons each one of us to reach out to those in need. In
reflecting upon the request Jesus made, I think of our Church community here at St. Genevieve and all that we
receive each week. We have the opportunity to attend daily Mass and receive Jesus in the Eucharist. We pray
the Holy Rosary on a daily basis asking our blessed mother for her intersession for our needs. Our church
offers “Retreats” on a regular basis to fill us with the necessary tools for the journey of life and fills our hearts
with God’s infinite love. We have a wonderful CCD Program to teach our children that God should be first in
our lives, because with Him we acquire all that we need to overcome the daily struggles of life. Our church
truly lives the request Jesus asks of us.
We too, are called to participate in God’s divine love and call to giving. Stewardship is a call to give not only
of our time and talents but also our finances as well. If everyone made an effort to give at least one hour of
their wages, we would see a significant improvement in our weekly collection.
The Commemorative Tree Fund Raiser still has leaves available to complete the tree and our objective. Our
Church, which gives us so much, is in need of many repairs so that we can continue to use its facilities. We
may think that $175.00 or $250.00 is too much to donate at one time. God gave all of Himself for us, holding
nothing back out of love for each one of us. How do we respond to His love? I challenge all the families of
St. Genevieve to talk with their family members and together gather the funds necessary to contribute to the
purchase of a leaf on our Commemorative Tree. We have enough families to complete our fundraiser goal.
When I was younger I attended a catholic school that gave us envelopes, to teach us about stewardship. I
remember that coming up we did not have much, because my father was the sole provider for our family of 5
children, but my mother always made sure we had something to put in that envelope. I believe that we also
need to ensure that our children take ownership of our Church, so that it will always be here for them.

– MARCOS 15:12-13
Jesús nos dijo "Todo lo que hicieron por el más pequeño de mis hermanos, también lo hicieron por mí." Todos los días
se nos presenta la oportunidad de ayudar a alguien. Todos los días tenemos la oportunidad de ver el rostro de Jesús en los
demas y ser el rostro de Jesús para todos ellos. Ore para ser valiente y pueda defender a los que lo necesitan.
Reflexión sobre la corresponsabilidad por Evelyn Silva:
Cuando escuchamos las palabras pronunciadas por Jesús llamándonos a reflexionar y a hacernos esta pregunta, ¿quién es
el más pequeño de mis hermanos? Es una llamada para cada uno de nosotros de ayudar a los más necesitados.
Al reflexionar sobre las palabras de Jesús, pienso en nuestra comunidad de la Iglesia St. Genevieve y todo lo que
recibimos cada semana. Tenemos la oportunidad de asistir a misa diariamente y recibir a Jesús en la Sagrada Eucaristía.
Rezamos el Santo Rosario diariamente pidiendo a nuestra Madre Santísima su intercesión para nuestras necesidades.
Nuestra iglesia ofrece "Retiros" muy a menudo para darnos las herramientas necesarias para el diario caminar en la vida
y llena nuestros corazones con el infinito amor de Dios. Tenemos un Programa de Catecismo maravillosa que enseña a
nuestros hijos que Dios debe ser lo mas importante en nuestras vidas, ya que con Él adquirimos todo lo que necesitamos
para superar los retos en nuestra vida diaria. Nuestra iglesia vive verdaderamente el pedido que Jesús nos hace.
Nosotros también estamos llamados a participar en el amor divino de Dios y al llamado de dar. La corresponsabilidad es
una llamada para dar no sólo de nuestro tiempo y talento, sino también de nuestras finanzas. Si todo el mundo hace el
esfuerzo de dar al menos, una hora de su salario cada domingo, veríamos una mejoría significante en nuestra colecta
semanal.
El recaudamiento de fondos del árbol Conmemorativo todavía tiene 79 hojas disponibles para completar el árbol y llegar
a nuestro objetivo. Nuestra Iglesia, que nos da tanto, necesita de muchas reparaciones para que podamos seguir
utilizando sus facilidades. Quizás pensamos que $175.00 o $ 250.00 es demasiado para donar de una vez. Dios se
entregó por completo por nosotros, sin retener nada, por amor a cada uno de nosotros. ¿Cómo respondemos a su amor?
Yo reto a todas las familias de St. Genevieve a que hablen con sus familiares y juntos reúnan los fondos necesarios para
contribuir en la compra de una hoja en nuestro árbol conmemorativo. Tenemos familias suficientes para completar
nuestra meta.
Cuando era más joven, asistí a una escuela católica que nos daba sobres para que los niños contribuyera, y de esa manera
enseñarnos sobre la corresponsabilidad. Recuerdo que no teníamos mucho, porque mi padre era el único proveedor para
nuestra familia de 5 hijos, pero mi madre siempre se aseguraba de tener algo que poner en ese sobre. Yo creo que
también tenemos que enseñar a nuestros niños a compartir sus dones con nuestra iglesia, para que siempre este allí
cuando la necesiten.
