GENENPAC FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Does Genentech have a PAC? Yes, GenenPAC (Genentech) is a bipartisan, nonprofit PAC that accepts voluntary contributions from its employees for distribution to federal and state political candidates. All new members are enrolled in GenenPAC only. What agency regulates PACs? The PACs are regulated by the FEC (Federal Election Committee). A government agency created in 1975 to administer and enforce the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) – the statute that governs the financing of federal elections. For more information check out http://www.fec.gov/. Are my contributions confidential? No, FEC requires PACs to disclose the name, address, occupation and employer of each contributor who gives $200 or more in a calendar year and this information will be made public. How is the PAC managed/governed? Genentech's Government Affairs unit manages the PAC, which conducts administrative duties, e.g., membership, budget and contributions management. The PAC is governed by a Board of Directors who must abide by its bylaws. Am I required to contribute to the PAC? No, you are not required to contribute to the PAC. Your contribution is strictly voluntary. You have the right to refuse to contribute without reprisal. The amount you contribute, or your decision not to contribute, will not benefit or disadvantage your employment. Why doesn't Genentech as a company contribute to the PAC? Why should I become a member? GenenPAC allows employees to have a voice in encouraging the election of legislators dedicated to helping the biotechnology industry. Also, Genentech's PACs employee contributions dollars lag behind other companies. As you can see, in 2012, Genentech/Roche employees contributed $293,005 to its PACs while Amgen employees contributed $915,956. How do I become a member of GenenPAC?
