Dear QMS Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to a new school year! We have had a fantastic start to this academic year. I am writing to invite you to join us
for our annual Curriculum Night. The purpose of Curriculum Night is to share your child’s learning experience with you.
This year, Curriculum Night will be held on Thursday evening, September 18, 2014 and will follow this schedule:
GRADE 6:
6:00 – 6:30: Auditorium – Optional Overview of the X2 Student Portal (access to homework/grades/attendance)
6:30 – 7:00: Auditorium – Welcome comments by school administration and specialist teachers.
7:00 – 8:00: Report to Your Team where teachers will address parents by providing an overview of the learning
that will take place this year.
GRADE 7 and 8:
6:00 – 6:30: Auditorium – Optional Overview of the X2 Student Portal (access to homework/grades/attendance)
6:30 – 8:00: Report to Period 1 Classroom and follow the 6 period schedule for the evening (Day F.)
Each period will last approximately 12 minutes.
Parents will find a detailed schedule on the back of this letter. This schedule has been carefully prepared for you
by your child. The schedule reflects the classes and activities that occur during your child’s day here at QMS.
In addition, the QMS Parents Advisory Council (the PAC) will have an information table set up in our front lobby. The PAC
is the parent group for QMS which meets with administration each month to provide a parent perspective on issues and
initiatives at QMS. The PAC also raises funds to enhance the experience of the students at the middle school. The PAC
will be holding elections for the QMS School Council, which is an advisory committee to the principal that assists in
reviewing the school budget and student handbook changes and in the formulation of the school improvement plan.
There currently are two openings available for parent representatives on the School Council. Please stop by the PAC
information table to cast your vote.
Correspondence will follow later in the fall regarding parent/teacher conferences which will be held in early December.
We hope that you enjoy visiting our school.
