Principal’s Message
Dear Parents,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you back to another exciting year at KTC. Our entire staff has been eagerly preparing
themselves for what IY”H (with Hashem’s help), hopes to be a fruitful and productive learning experience for your child.
Please take a moment to read this first eNewsletter. The sole focus is to present just a tiny snapshot of the amazing new
initiatives we will be integrating this coming year.
In keeping with our open door policy, I would like to impress upon you all that I will warmly welcome any discussions you wish
to have with me - should it be sharing positive feedback or specific concerns, or simply how KTC can better meet the needs of
your children. We want the opportunity to be able to engage with our parents as well as our students. The best way to set up a
meeting with me, is to contact my PA Sarah Vasin on 9301 1109 or [email protected].
Wishing you all a good Shabbos and a restful weekend,
- Rabbi Dr Noteh Glogauer - Principal

In Jewish Studies....
We will be implementing our tailor-made outcome-based Kriah program in the Infants school.
We will ensure continued individualised attention and to allow each child maximum review time, each Year K and 1
class will be divided into three teacher-lead groups three times a week, where they will learn and review the Kriah
skills through engaging and fun activities.
In line with our vision to reach all our students, we will be trialling a special ed Chumash class for Year 3/4 Boys.
The Jewish Studies Learning Centre will be supporting students needing assistance in Kriah.
The implementation of outcome-based learning in Chumash in Years 3 - 6 using the Zekelman Standards.
The implementation of outcome-based learning in Mishnah and Talmud in Years 3 - 6 using Menachem Foundation
and Gemora Berurah Standards.
An emphasis on having fun and meaningful programs for special days both within each classroom and across the
Infants and Primary schools.

Chess Coaching
Sydney Academy of Chess is looking at running chess coaching at
Kesser Torah College. The classes will be held once per week.
!
Chess is a valuable activity for children, developing their logical
thinking skills, concentration and discipline, as well as being a source
of much enjoyment! What better way to combine learning and fun!
These classes begin with an interactive lecture by one of our experienced coaches. During the second half of the lesson
children play games against each other, putting newly learned strategies into practice. As the term progresses and the
children become proficient in all the basics, the lectures will move on to more complex ideas such as strategy, middle
game ideas and chess technique.
The cost for the coaching is $8 per child per lesson. There are approximately 8-10 lessons during each term.
If you are interested in your child taking part in this activity, please contact the school office for a form to complete.

Hanochas Tefillin / Bar Mitzvah
Many boys in Year 7 will start putting on Tefillin and celebrate their Barmitzvahs in the coming year. These significant
milestones are made all the more memorable when celebrated together with friends and teachers at school. We do
however wish to remind parents about some protocol in this regard:

Parents need to notify the school by email at least 4 weeks before the day
Siblings in GHS may not attend
If you are going to be providing some sort of refreshments (as is customary) you will need to provide enough for
the entire school (+/- 65 students). However, this is to be “refreshments” only (e.g. a piece of cake and cup of
juice for each student) NOT a full breakfast.
No food may be home-baked, it would need to be bought from an establishment under the KA that is Cholov
Yisroel only (e.g. Glicks)
In addition to the above, the School would be honoured to present a gift to each boy for their Bar Mitzvah at the
Shule service or at the celebration function. Please be in touch with Rabbi Glogauer to coordinate this special gift.
