2014 TABO AGM Resource Officer Report

2014 TABO AGM Resource Officer Report
Dear Members, I would like to express how much of a privilege it has been to serve you in three executive
positions during the past 15 years under 4 different presidents I do believe it is important for me to step
aside and create an opportunity for another TABO member to use his or her skills to give back to TABO. If
after some time away, if I feel I can meet a different leadership role, I will seek to do so. .
Another successful and rewarding year is coming to a close. I report on the achievements that reflect the
excellent overall performance of TABO’s Members with great pride as Resource Officer,
The major priority for this year was to ensure that every member who was scheduled for or who
requested an evaluation, received it. Our Evaluation team developed a process that included standard
procedures, consistent methodology, realistic timelines and accountability. The primary guiding goals of
2013-2014 evaluations were to promote professional growth, identify areas for personal improvement and
provide advice and strategies on how to achieve them.
In total, over 100 evaluations were conducted by the entire evaluation team. Each official
received a detailed, written report on their demonstrated strengths and also on those aspects
of their officiating that needed improvement.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the talented and dedicated captains of TABO Evaluators for the
great job that they did this year in sharing their profound knowledge and significant officiating experience
with TABO’s Members –Mike Falloon, Dennis Herbert, Tim Laurain, and Dave Bohnen.
We continued to stress education, growth and professional development to all of the officials that were
evaluated. The formal evaluation is just one important element that the TABO Panel Placement Committee
will consider when determining individual recommendations for next year. Therefore this year’s
evaluations emphasized educating each official, helping that person identify clear individual goals and
providing specific suggestions that they could use to help take their officiating to the next level.
CAMP PRIME TIME
I would also like to recognize all of the officials who participated in Camp Prime Time at York University
There were 21 officials from across the province that took part and invested precious time to learn how to
become better officials. Over half the officials that participated in the camp came TABO. All during the
camp I heard nothing but positive feedback from the evaluators on how well our TABO officials performed
on the court. This camp was a great opportunity for TABO officials to officiate in front of the OUA East and
OUA West supervisors as well as the head of officials for the NBL Canada’s on professional league.
Finally, I would like to thank all of the members of the Executive for their hard work and support over the
last 15 years. I would also like to thank the Assignors for their support, contributions and cooperation.
Serving all TABO Members as Resource Officer was a privilege and an honor.
Thank you for your support. I wish my successor and the executive much success. Next year
Peter McDonald
