The committee resolved that only written complaints will be recorded in this register. Accounts paid in April Accounts to be paid in May $ 5,141.48 $ 38,683.41 The May accounts include the above transfer of funds and payments for masterpoints, the bidding pads and the quarterly levy to NZZ Bridge. , That the Treasurer's Report be received and that payments are approved CARRIED SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS 1 Almoner Pat R reported from the Almoner 2 Catering Sue advised that nibbles have been organised for the Boston Cup finale and that upcoming tournaments were under control. 3 Raffles Shirley commented that club members have been very generous in donating home preserves and other items for raffles. 4 Maintenance Bruce will investigate a possible leak underneath the steriliser and the old dishwasher will be disposed of. 5 Club Captain Karen reported that Dallas Dagg from Hamilton is to direct the Inter Provincial Trials on 7 & 8 June and Norm the Charity Pairs on 18 June. She also noted that the Improvers Group was attracting good numbers of both Tauranga and Mount players Committee Meeting 564 – 21 May 2014 Page 2 of 4 Tauranga Bridge Club 6 Clubrooms Mary and Sue volunteered to clean the trophies in the display cabinet 7 Lessons Amanda noted that numbers attending were holding steady at just over 70 and reported from the recent meeting with the Mount about the Lesson Programme progress. She also advised that a Novice session will continue for the rest of the year on a Tuesday evening at Tauranga following the conclusion of the Lesson programme in July WAIKATO-BAYS REGION Karen noted upcoming Regional events: the Jones Day Out and the Novice tournament. GENERAL BUSINESS 1 Committee Meetings With the Novice sessions confirmed for Tuesday evenings, Committee Meetings will continue to be held on Wednesday evenings. 2 Acorn Foundation Peter advised of an approach from the Acorn Foundation to speak to members about their organization: the Committee declined the approach. 3 Otumoetai College Fundraiser Peter advised of an approach from an Otumoetai College group requesting the use of the car-park to fundraise for a Charity Work project in Mexico in 2015 by holding weekend cash wash days. Provided that any days did not clash with tournaments or other scheduled events in the club, the Committee granted the request. The Committee requested that the Club be acknowledged for the use of the car-park and any signage. 4 Waikato-Bays Regional Committee Election That the Club cast it’s votes in favour of the following candidates for the WaikatoBays Regional Committee of NZ Bridge: Rona Driscoll, Brett Glass, Karen Martelletti, Ray McCully, Michael Neels and Jan Spaans CARRIED 5 Collection of Subscriptions Amanda admitted that the system the Club used for collection of its annual subscriptions was not ideal but that an alternative of invoicing all members at the beginning of the financial year would be time consuming, costly and bring its own set of problems. The current system will continue. 6 Compassmate Barometer Pairs A simultaneous barometer event organised and sponsored by Bridgemate NZ for clubs using the Compass scoring system with bridgemates was planned for Friday evening 13 June. Entries of multiples of exactly .7 tables were required. Committee Meeting 564 – 21 May 2014 Page 3 of 4 Tauranga Bridge Club The Committee considered that this would be a fun event in which to participate and notices will be prepared to advertise the event. 7 Ladies Toilet Renovations Some discussion ensured as to the appropriate colour scheme for the Ladies Toilet renovations but it was finally resolved.
