HERE ARE SOME OF THE
HIGHLIGHTS OF FALL
AND WINTER QUARTER
HELLO ALL!
Here we are again, back to another
Winter Quarter at UCSB, even
though it doesn’t really feel like winter
here! For the past few weeks we have
been enjoying days of 70 degree
weather, and sun-kissed skin, which
has allowed for some relaxing January
beach days and a fun sisterhood trip to
the butterfly reserve! We just recently
held our annual elections, and are
excited to announce our new
Executive Board, and other new
officers further on in this newsletter.
There will also be a few highlights
from Fall Quarter which weren’t
featured in the last newsletter. Until
then, have a great Winter Quarter and
Happy New Year!
Connect.
Impact.
Shine.

CRESCENT CLASSIC 2013!
Pancakes in Paris!
We raised $8,600 this past November at our
annual philanthropy, Pancake Breakfast! It
was a morning of bacon, eggs, all-you-caneat pancakes, and of course, the smiling faces
of the girls of Delta Psi! The doors of our
chapter house were open to friends, family,
members of the Santa Barbara community,
and the Greek community. A majority of the
p ro c e e d s we re d o n at e d t ow a rd o u r
philanthropic partners, Campfire and Girls
on the Run, both of which focus on inspiring
young women to be the best they can be. The
remainder of the funds went toward
philanthropic organizations that are close to
our members’ hearts. Our Fundraising Chair,
Kelly Morrison, put her heart and soul into
organizing this special event, and that
morning was definitely a success!

BIG/LITTLE WEEK 2013!
PAGE

Welcome Home Little Sisters. Welcome to
the world of Gamma Phi Beta!
Chaos. Trickery. Exhaustion. Excitement. Pure joy. Best
week of your life. These are all words that describe Big/
Little week. From the moment the Big Sisters find out who
their Little Sisters are, not a moment is wasted in planning
this awesome week. The Littles are spoiled and loved
beyond imagination, and the Bigs are stressed because they
want to plan the perfect surprise for their soon-to-be Little
Sis. All the tireless hours of planning and sleepless nights
spent crafting are worth it when the Bigs pop out from
behind the curtain on Revealing day to see that look of
relief on their Littles’ faces when they realize their Big is
exactly who they always thought it would be. The entire
week was organized by New Member Educator Iris Megiris
and her committee, and it couldn’t have gone better.
This year, we had a wonderful new pledge class of 43
wonderful new members. On November 16th, 2013, these
girls were initiated as Gamma Phi Beta women by President
Miranda Pace and Ritual Chair Marnie Christison. It was
an exciting event, especially since it directly followed Big/
Little Reveal, and is likely an experience none shall ever
forget.

FOUNDER’S DAY 2013!
This year, Founders’ Day held a
special significance to the Delta Psi
chapter. This year signified our
30th year on UCSB campus. We
spared no expense on this special
day and had a wonderful brunch
organized by Alumnae Relations
Chair Giana Olivieri at the Fess
Parker Resort in downtown Santa
Barbara. The alumnae turnout was
fantastic, and even 5 charter
members and 8 past presidents
made the trip to support their old
chapter! Even more special was the
fact that Mary Knaup, the
Collegiate Vice President of
Gamma Phi Beta International
Council, was able to attend and give
a speech about Gamma Phi, which
made this special day feel even
more incredible! It was a great day
to spend with sisters and feel the
bonds of sisterhood we feel so
deeply within this sorority.
