His loss was felt profoundly by his patients, students and colleagues. Through generous contributions from the Winter family, a lectureship and the Winter Library were created in his honor to commemorate his dedication to academic medicine. Over thirty people were in attendance to hear Dr. Jorge Marrero speak on the topic of Early Detection and Diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma.
