My Church Empowers Me
Craig Altman • January 31st - February 1st, 2015
1. God has
each of us.
“ He, the very one who descended, is also the one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things. 11It
was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12to
equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:10-12 NET
10
“It is he who saved us and chose us for his holy work not because we deserved it but because that was his plan long
before the world began—to show his love and kindness to us through Christ.”
2 Timothy 1:9 LB
2. We are not judged
.
“ I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his
service. 13Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I
acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and
love that are in Christ Jesus. 15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.”
1 Timothy 1:12-15 NIV
12
3. We never feel
.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
2 Corinthians 12:9a NIV
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us
long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
1 Peter 4:10 NLT
• Every good work is rewarded.
“‘And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that
person will certainly not lose their reward.’”
Matthew 10:42 NIV
“‘Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a
ransom for many.’”
Matthew 20:28 LB
“We were put on this earth to make a contribution, not just to consume resources.”
– Rick Warren
