WFB League rules

Warhammer league rules.
Welcome to the Battle for the Old World league.
This is a casual Warhammer Fantasy Battle league for Harlow Games Club players.
The League will begin on Monday 17th March and run for around 4 months, finishing on Sunday 29 th July, With
a Finals day to be confirmed.
We will be tracking the performance of Good, Evil and Neutral aligned armies, calculating a total for each at
the end of the league to see who prevails as rulers of the Old World! (Just for fun, like).
Basic Rules;
2500pt lists.
No comp restrictions.
Standard Battle line scenario for every game.
Everyone plays each other once.
All games to be played within the time allocated.
Players will be expected to make their arrangements to play these games in any order that is convenient to the
players.
As long as all games are completed by the end of the league, you are free to arrange games to fit in whenever
you want. I.e. Week 1 and 2 you play no games but week three you play 3, for example.
The top 4 players at the end of the league will meet on a “Finals Day” to play a semi-final, final and 3rd/4th playoff games.
There will be a trophy for the winner, best painted army and best sportsmanship. Best painted will be voted
for by the players at the end of the league. Best sportsmanship will be a total score from all reviews from every
game (see below).
Communication and Attendance:
- The bane of all leagues is that there are people who (with almost certainly good intentions) join the league in
the beginning only to drop out (usually without any notice at all) before the league has completed.
- Unfortunately, experience has taught us that unless an equally powerful disincentive exists players will still
exit the league prematurely which will jeopardize its overall success.
- As a result, the following, rules are in effect;
1) Any player who does not give at least 1hr notice to their opponent that they will be unable to make a
scheduled game automatically forfeits, rewarding their opponent with full Battle Points (15/15).
2) It is the duty of each player to do their due diligence and learn the basic rules of Warhammer Fantasy 8th
edition. It is imperative that each player know the rules of their chosen Army Book as well as possible. It is also
the responsibility of each player to have their particular army’s FAQ available for reference. If you are unsure
how a particular rule or unit functions, don’t make it up or guess. Take out the rulebook and find the answer.
3) The HGC provides a friendly, fun and comfortable environment to have our games in. It is important that we
respect the space that is provided. This includes the terrain we use. When a game is over, terrain should be
returned to an appropriate box (all scenery is alphabetized and has a corresponding box).
4) It is not necessary to play all or in fact any of your games at the Harlow Games club. You are invited to
arrange your games at a place and a time to suit.
4) Please email the result of every one of your games to [email protected]. Please include your
name, the army you used, the army your opponent used, your VPs, your opponents VP’s and a sportsmanship
score out of 10 for your opponent.
ARMY LIST CONSTRUCTION and GAMEPLAY
-
-
All scheduled games are to be played at 2500 points, following the normal restrictions in the Basic
Rule Book.
Army lists can be changed from the game to game as you wish. However, you MUST have a legible,
understandable and detailed copy of your army list to give your opponent to look at during the game.
Army books may also be changed from game to game. For example you may use Lizardmen in one
battle and then Dark Elves in the next. Just do not tell your opponent which army you will be using
beforehand!!
This is a closed list league, meaning you do not need to discuss or show your opponent any element
of your army until after the game or if the rules dictate during a battle.
All games can earn a player up to 15 League Points (LPs). See chart below.
PLEASE DO NOT concede a game wholesale. The point structure of these games makes a whitewash
result HIGHLY UNLIKELY even under the worst circumstances. If you concede your game you are
either A) denying your opponent points he could have earned or B) Giving your opponent points he
may not have earned. Either result impacts the other players in the league and their standings. Take
your beating like a champ and play out the game.
