Franklyn Casale, President St. Thomas University Dear Friends, Lent challenges us to ask ourselves what we really believe in, what and who are most important to us, what we are willing to sacrifice for. In confronting these questions honestly, sincerely and faithfully, we will greatly profit from this season that forces us into the dessert of our heart and the wilderness of our soul...with a realization of God as the center of our hopes and dreams and a new yearning for the fulfillment of the Easter promise in our lives. • What am I allowing God to change and mold in my life this Lent? As you reflect on God’s Word, may He strengthen you with His peace. May the good Lord bless you and your dear family abundantly each day, particularly during this Lenten Season. Please pray for me. In Christ, Catholic Parish of St. John Neumann Msgr. Casale was the Vicar General, Chancellor and Moderator of the Curia of the Archdiocese of New Jersey, served on the governing board of various private and educational foundations and was a member of former Governor Jeb Bush’s Haiti Advisory Group. They were so ready to respond to the challenge that 25 eager teens showed up on a Saturday to do, what they found out was much needed yard work, at the priest’s house. They worked hard and with great fun. Now the priest’s home looks welcoming and beautiful. Thanks Angeles de Agape For the ‘Heart’ Work! W.O.W. WHAT WONDERS CAN HAPPEN WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER! Our sisters and brothers from The WOW Center prepared food for the Homeless Ministry monthly outreach and gathered toiletries and reading items for the homeless as well. They delivered all the items on Friday to the Church. Filled with pride and joy, these men and women were so happy to be helping others in need. “Formerly known as Community Habilitation Center, The WOW Center was organized in the early 1970s thanks to the efforts of a small group of parents of children with developmental disabilities. This group of parents were facing the reality that after their sons and daughters graduated high school, their options were limited. There were not many programs or services available for their family member to keep learning, developing and ultimately achieving their goals. The WOW Center was created to meet this need in our community. The WOW Center currently supports and serves over 150 adults with developmental disabilities from Miami-Dade County who range in ages from 21 to 71. Since its founding, The WOW Center has broadened its programs and activities and amassed an enviable reputation throughout South Florida. For more information, please contact info at WOWCenterMiami.org” St. John Neumann Parish and the Homeless Ministry thanks the wonderful members of The WOW Center and Lourdes Matamoros and her team for their generosity! The campaign coincides with the 40 days of Lent and concludes March 29, Palm Sunday. "We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond," said Joan Crown, archdiocesan director of the Respect Life Office. The local prayer vigils are taking place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily in the public right-of-way outside an abortion facility in Miami-Dade County and another in Broward. All vigil participants sign a "statement of peace" and pledge to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times. "We know 40 Days for Life has made a difference in Miami," said Kathy Weissinger, director of the Respect Life Office's South Dade Pregnancy Help Center and coordinator of the Miami campaign. "Our volunteers have made extraordinary sacrifices to expose the abortion industry and to protect children and their mothers from abortion." Kathy is a member of St. John Neumann Parish. Those interested in taking part in 40 Days for Life can sign up to become a "prayer warrior" at this locations: A Choice for Women, 6660 S.W. 117 Ave. Pablo A. Navarro SACRAMENTO DE RECONCILIACIÓN.
