J?zef ? rmeny was born in Uzhorod, Ukraine. He studied as a pianist in Lviv Conservatory (prof.Krushelnytska M.) and Moscow Conservatory (prof.Malinin E.). As a soloist, chamber music player and accompanist performed repertoire from baroque to contemporary music. He had numerous concerts in different countries (Russia, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, USA and Canada), also made TV and Radio recordings. Lately is specializing in contemporary music, creating his own deep interpretation and using his high technical abilities. Especially he likes to perform Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant Jesus by O.Messiaen or Klavierst?cke by K.Stockhausen. Also in concerts he performs pieces by Ukrainian composers (V.Silvestrov, E.Stankovych, I.Shcherbakov, A.Shchetynsky). He was the first performer of different musical pieces, which composers dedicated to Jozef ? rmeny. Pianist took a part at an international festivals like „Contrasts“ and „Warsaw Autumn“. He is well known performer of music by A.Schnittke, G.Kurtag, T.Takemitsu, J.Cage and M.Feldman. Performed Symphony No4 by K.Szymanowski with NOSPR (conductor S.Skrowaczewski), Piano concerto by A.Nikodemowicz (NOSPR, conductor J.Krenz). Winner by Revutsky Prize (1993). Recorded with O.Pasichnyk „Kurp songs“ by K.Szymanowski for recording company „Musicon“ (1998). J?zef ? rmeny also specializing in baroque music and performs this music on instruments from this ?poque. He recorded concerto by D.Bortniansky on old historical piano for recording company „Erol“ (France).
