PROGRAMME COURSE A

International Sleep Medicine Course 2014
The International Sleep Medicine Course is a joint venture of the Sleep Societies of Belgium, the UK
and The Netherlands. In a three year scheme each Society organizes this 3-4 days lasting course.
Up to now the course gave an overview of all aspects of Sleep Medicine and focussed on the
physician or psychologist who already had some experience in the field. The 2014 course aims at
providing good knowledge of all fields of Sleep Medicine on the level of the “Catalogue” issued by the
European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) and prepares for the exams as Somnologist/Expert in
Sleep medicine or Somnologist/Expert in Sleep technology, organized by the ESRS. This results in
two separate courses: one for sleep doctors and sleep psychologists and one for sleep technicians.
Both courses have a schedule of half time plenary lectures and hands-on and interactive teaching in
small groups during the other part of the day.
The venue is a centuries old convent which was gradually modernized over a period of many years
leading to an optimal centre for courses as ours. De Ruwenberg is located in St. Michielsgestel, a nice
village near the larger city of Den Bosch. If weather permits walking or biking in this region is a
pleasant experience.
We hope you will enjoy the course(s) and in particular will have fruitful contacts on Sleep Medicine
with colleagues and teachers.
