Prayer for Peace
(To be recited at the Prayer of the Faithful)
Almighty God and Creator, You are the Father of all people on
earth. Guide, I pray, all nations and their leaders in the ways of
justice and peace. Protect us from the evils of injustice,
prejudice, exploitation, conflict and war. Help us to put away
mistrust, bitterness and hatred. Teach us to cease the storing
and using of implements of war. Lead us to find peace, respect
and freedom. Unite us in the making and sharing of tools of
peace against ignorance, poverty, disease and oppression. Grant

The awful series of events in Sydney and the enormous works of mercy and compassion.
During Advent we pray for peace and harmony in our local

tragedy in Pakistan where 142 innocent children and their
teachers were massacred, remind us of our common call to
live in mutual respect and friendship - no matter the faith or
the non-faith of the individual or community.
On Wednesday we celebrated the Mass of Peace and
Harmony. There was a good representation of our Muslim
brothers and sisters as well as representatives from our
various church agencies and our two schools. During the Mass
we not only prayed for peace, but also for the victims and
survivors of the Martin Place siege.
We continue to pray for the two victims and their families and
friends. We pray for those people traumatised by the siege and
their families and friends. We pray in gratitude for the Police
Command of NSW, the police and the Tactical Response men
and women, as well as our Premier for his sterling leadership
of our beautiful state. We hold the people of NSW and
Australia in prayer with the specific intention that we respect
and build relationships for the greater glory of God.
Of course we need to pray for the many innocent victims of
the massacre in Pakistan. So many innocent lives .... so many
children .... May they rest in eternal peace.
Let us commit ourselves anew to teach one another how to
love. Love is the great commandment.
With every blessing and good wish,
Fr Ron Peters and Mr Gary Ismail

End-of-Year Notices
The Bulletin as from 24/25 Dec until 24/25 Jan ’15 will be the
brief version.
The Pastoral Region Office will be closed from 3pm on 24th Dec
and reopen on 29, 30 December. The Office will be open on
Friday 2 Jan and return to the usual schedule from Monday 5th
January. In case of emergencies, call 4228 6511 and one of the
priests will be available.
Father Ron will be away on leave during January. Father
Thomas will be celebrating his 30th Anniversary with family in
India from mid-January to mid-February. Rev Stephen will be
away for two weeks during January.
As the busyness of the end-of-year accelerates, I do ask our
parishioners to take care on the roads. Please be safe during the
coming holiday time. Take time to reflect on the Advent and
Christmas Reflections in our diocesan REDEEM book. Please
be aware of our parishioners for whom this is a time of sadness
and/or aloneness. A Christmas greeting and some Christmas
cheer needs to be offered to those many people who experience
the festive days as ones of isolation and disappointment.
