NEWSLETTER
Annwyl Riant / Geidwad
Dear Parent / Guardian
Fel gallwch ddychmygu, mae’r Cylchlythyr yma
yn llawn gwybodaeth am y gweithgareddau
mae’r disgyblion wedi cymryd rhan ynddynt
dros y misoedd diwetha. Beth sy’n amlwg yw
llwyddiannau’r ysgol ar lefel lleol a chenedlaethol.
Mae’r ystod o gyfleon sydd ar gael i’r holl
ddisgyblion o’r radd flaenaf ac mae hyn yn arwydd
o ymrwymiad ac ymroddiad y Staff.
As you can appreciate, this latest Newsletter is
packed with all the activities and events that the
pupils have partaken in during the last number of
months. What is very apparent is that both at a local
level and a national level, the school continues to
be very successful. The range of opportunities on
offer for all of the pupils is first class and this is
down to the dedication and commitment of the staff.
Yn ystod gwyliau’r haf bydd adnewyddiadau’r
adrannau Mathemateg, Dyniaethau a’r Ieithoedd
Modern wedi’u cwblhau sy’n golygu bod gan y
disgyblion floc arall o gyfleusterau ardderchog.
Mae hyn hefyd yn golygu mai dim ond y bloc
Technoleg sydd ar ôl i’w gwblhau. Bydd y gwaith
yn dechrau ar hwn ym mis Hydref. O fis Medi bydd
y gwersi Celf a Technoleg yn adeiladau dros dro
yn y ‘Pentref’.
During the summer holidays the refurbishment of
the Maths, Humanities and Modern Languages
block will be completed, meaning that the pupils
have yet another block of excellent facilities.
This also means that we have only one block to
complete, namely Technology, which will begin
in October. From September/October the Art
and Technology lessons will be in the ‘Pentref’
temporary buildings.
Rydym yn mawr obeithio erbyn Rhagfyr 2014
bydd y bloc Technoleg wedi’i gwblhau ac erbyn
Ebrill 2015, bydd TRJ wedi cwblhau’r holl waith
adeiladu ac yn barod i adael y seit.
Mae’r tymor newydd i ddisgyblion 7, 10 a 12
yn dechrau ar ddydd Mawrth y 3ydd o Fedi a
blynyddoedd 8, 9, 11 a 13 yn dechrau ar ddydd
Mercher y 4ydd o Fedi.
Diolch i chi gyd am eich cefnogaeth yn ystod y
flwyddyn ac rwy’n gobeithio y bydd y disgyblion i
gyd yn mwynhau gwyliau diogel ac ymlaciol.
Yn ddiffuant

Dyma’r canlyniadau:

Hoffwn ddweud llongyfarchiadau hefyd i Sian
James o flwyddyn 8 a gyrhaeddodd y sir a

Eisteddfod in May. The first language reciting
group came third after a great performance and
tough competition, with the older group coming
second in their competition, but they also had

the sixth form public speaking team showed a
keen debate in the Speaking Competition for
Secondary school age.

Spelling Bee
Once again this year, Year 7 pupils were given
the opportunity to compete in the National
Spelling Bee competition. Stage 1 was a
class contest, where pupils competed against
their classmates. We’re very impressed by
everyone’s willingness to take part and the
effort displayed in learning how to spell 50
German/ French words in the target language.
These were our class winners who proceeded
on to Stage 2:
German
Roisin Evans, Charlotte Laurie,
Rhiannon Thomas, Chloe Wilcott-Williams,
Kian Evans, Olivia Kenlock,
Eli Onyeiu, Matthew Wigglesworth.
French
David Brice, Tae-Young Moon,
Megan Reed, Tesni Stevens,
Aleetza Molloy, Nicholas Morris,
Katie Nicklin, Ffion Wiltshire,
Adam Rosser, Luke Jones.
Stage 2 was held in school one lunch-time, to
find our school winners. It was clear that our
pupils had spent a lot of time learning how to
spell an additional 100 words and were keen
to do well. After a closely fought round, our
school winners were:
French
Adam Rosser 7W
Luke Jones 7W
Tae-Young Moon 7C
Megan Reed 7G
German
Charlotte Laurie 7M
Rhiannon Thomas 7M
Olivia Kenlock 7B
Eli Onyeiu 7B
These 8 pupils then went on to represent the
school at Ysgol Bryngwyn on 23 April for Stage
3. All eight competitors did themselves and
Ysgol Dyffryn Aman very proud indeed as they
performed to the very highest standard. Yet
another 50 words had to be learnt making 150
words in total. Unfortunately, Stage 4 was just
outside our grasp, but all pupils worked hard to
reach that standard and should be very proud
of their achievements. Well done everyone!

A team of Year 9 pupils from Ysgol Dyffryn
Aman won a podium place at the Formula 1 in
Schools National Final in London. Competing
against the best teams from the UK the Dyffryn

The boys who go by the name of Team Burn,
won the fastest car and were overall winners
at the Regional Finals held at the Waterfront

confidence they spent 2 weeks redesigning
their car, pit display and merchandise in
preparation for the National Finals. After

As a result of this resounding victory, the team

went to London with confidence and high hopes
after the victory.

•Pangbourne College 37-5
before beating Neath College in the semifinal: 31-5
cyn maeddu Coleg Castell Nedd yn y rownd
gyn-derfynol o 31 – 5.
Yn y gêm derfynol, er gwaetha ymdrechion
dewr y merched, profodd y gêm yn erbyn Coleg
Hartpury i fod yn un cam rhy bell.
Rhaid canmol y merched i gyd, pob un ohonynt
am eu cymhelliant ac ymroddiad i ymarferion
ar ôl ysgol ar nos Wener. Hefyd, am eu
ymdrechion ym mhob cystadleuaeth eleni.
In the final game, despite the brave efforts

To the credit of all the girls, we have to thank

rehearsals after school on Friday. Also, for their

Yn ystod y tymor nesaf bydd disgyblion
blynyddoedd 7, 8 & 9 yn canolbwyntio ar un
thema ganolog sef ‘Gofal ar y Rhyngrwyd’.
Bydd cyflwyniadau arbennig yn cael eu rhoi yn

disgyblion am sut i sicrhau eu bod yn diogelu
eu hunain wrth ddefnyddio’r we ac yn enwedig
felly gwefannau cymdeithasol megis Facebook

1. Gosodwch osodiadau eich cyfrifiadur i

Also, the school and Dyfed Powys Police
have been working collaboratively to deliver
a number of sessions to our pupils regarding
internet safety. Presentations have been
given during assemblies and pupils have also
been given the opportunity to discuss this
theme during the pastoral sessions.These
presentations have highlighted the importance
of pupils keeping themselves safe whilst using
the internet and especially so on sites such as
Facebook and Twitter. Below is a summary of
the advice given to the pupils:
1.Ensure that your security settings are on
private.
2.Never share personal information about
yourself online e.g. name, address, mobile
phone number.
3.Choose your friends wisely. It’s not a
competition of how many friends you have on
Facebook or how many people follow you on
Twitter. Delete anyone that you wouldn’t class
YSGOL DYFFRYN AMAN
ar Twitter. Dilewch unrhyw un nad ydych yn
gallu eu galw’n ffrindiau da.
4. Sicrhewch eich bod yn gofyn caniatad
cyn rhoi llun o unrhyw un arall ar y we ac ar
wefannau cymdeithasol fel Facebook neu
Twitter.
5. Ni ddylid postio unrhyw ddelweddau
amhriodol ohonoch chi eich hun. Mae’r we yn
cael ei ddefnyddio gan dros 500 miliwn o bobl
ac unwaith mae llun ar y we, mae’n anodd iawn
cael gwared ohono.
6. Peidiwch dweud eich cyfrinair wrth neb.
7. Byddwch yn ofalus am y math o iaith ‘rydych
yn ei ddefnyddio a pha fath o sylwadau ‘rydych
yn eu ysgrifennu am bobl eraill. Ni ddylid
ysgrifennu sylwadau negyddol am bobl eraill.
8. Peidiwch a chyfeirio at yr ysgol nac unrhyw
aelod o staff pan yn ysgrifennu ar Facebook
neu’n trydar Twitter.
9. Sicrhewch eich bod yn riportio unrhyw sylw
/ llun sydd yn achosi niwed i chi’n bersonol gwasgwch y botwm ‘report abuse’ ar Facebook
neu dywedwch wrth athro.
10. Cofiwch,.os na fyddech yn ei ddwued i

The object of this project is that pupils will now
