Duties and Responsibilities
1. Interprets and/or translates in timely manner, documents in relation to Registration,
Protection assessments, Resettlement and Community Service for the language under the
responsibilities of the interpreters into English and vice versa.
2. Interprets oral conversations, discussions, training and interviews with asylum
seekers/refugees and meetings with government officials, embassies officials and others.
3. To answer to telephone inquiries made by people of concern to the office in the language
under the responsibility of the interpreters. Consult with the supervisors and provide the
response to the inquiries.
4. Travels with national and international staff on their missions to the field for
interpretation and other assistance, as needed.
5. Arranges meetings, both internal and external, some involving government officials and
takes minutes/notes.
6. Responds to queries relating to the area of responsibility.
7. Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications

Posseses proven skills in communicating proficiently from the assigned language to
English and vice versa. This means accurate listening, speaking, reading and writing,
reporting in both languages in a verbatim and efficient manner.
Posseses professional conduct and ethics in the course of performing interpretation and
translation services.
Prior experience in interpretation/translation is desirable.
Knowledge of Karen Pwo and Thai would be an asset.
