NEC Native Education College is a large private Aboriginal college in Vancouver and also works with First
Nations and Aboriginal organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia. We strive to
combine academic excellence with a strong commitment to First Nations community-based education and the
best practices of adult education. NEC is seeking a Program Coordinator for an HCA program to be delivered
using a blended model of classroom instruction in the community and on-line courses with Kwadacha Nation
and Tsay Keh Dene.
Position Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for management and delivery of a Health Care Assistant certificate
program based on a provincial curriculum and with Aboriginal wellness models to prepare individuals to
work as front-line health care providers. For more HCA information, see www.necvancouver.org.
Main Responsibilities:
The Program Coordinator will ensure equipment and resources are in place for the program start, teach
two or more courses, administer work placements and supervise other instructors in the program. This
post is part of the academics department, reporting to the academic dean, and must comply with all
relevant reporting needs both internally and externally.
Qualifications:
A BN, RN or degree/credential in a related field with instructor/facilitator experience; a combination of
education and experience may be considered
Experience setting up and monitoring health care training;
Project management and supervisory experience;
Verbal, written and computer communication skills;
Knowledge of and successful experience with Aboriginal adult instructional methodology specific to
health sciences;
Experience with remote First Nations communities is ideal.

Appointment to this 0.7 FTE contract position will require a formal criminal record check, the details of
which may preclude an offer of employment being finalized. This position is open to male and female
