The Tweed Heads position is part-time (32 hours per week) and the Lismore position is full-time (38 hpw). Both are temporary, maximum term up to 26 June 2015. Aboriginal Outreach Workers are responsible for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access health and related services and to support health professionals to develop culturally appropriate and safe policies and practices. The position duties include: • Establishing links with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals in the local area to encourage and support the increased use of health services. • Identifying barriers for local Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities that may be restricting their access to available health services • Supporting health professionals and health services to develop culturally appropriate and safe policies and practices.
