Page 3 of 4 Availability of Child & Adult Health Checks Full health checks by Aboriginal Health Workers, Nurses and Doctors are available – even if you feel well it is important to have regular check ups. Please let us know if you would like to get this done. Availability of longer consultations The length of your consultation with a GP will depend on the complexity of your health problems. GP consultations are usually between 10 minutes and 30 minutes, though sometimes longer consultations are required for clients with multiple problems. Specialist medical consultations are usually between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on who you are seeing. Receiving and returning telephone calls Doctors, Nurses and relevant Team Leaders and relevant Aboriginal Health Workers are available to take phone calls from clients if it is not necessary for them to see a doctor. Medical advice can only be given over the phone by a doctor or under advice from a doctor. Most calls are put through to the relevant Team Leader, or Clinic Nurse who will then give the message to the appropriate Doctor. If they are not able to take the call immediately the doctor will ring back when they are available. Please notify the Clinic Nurse or Medical Receptionist if it is an urgent matter. Follow up of test results Your doctor will let you know when the results of any test will be back, and whether you should come in for the results. If you have an important abnormal result and do not contact us for results we will try and contact you by telephone or by letter. However, this is not always possible due to out of date contact details and this can be dangerous for your health. Please ensure if you have tests done you make sure you get the results back.
