New Clinic
The AMS now runs a monthly immunisation clinic. The clinic runs on a Wednesday through an
appointment system. Please see reception to book an appointment.
GP services
GPs generally see clients on a “first come, first in” basis. You are encouraged to ask for the GP of your
choice and they will see you as soon as you are next in line and they are available. After 4pm you will be
asked to see the next available doctor to allow more efficient management at the end of the day.
There is also an appointment system for the following Doctors in the table below. All appointment
bookings and enquiries must be made through Reception Staff. Clients need to arrive 15 minutes early, if
you are late for your appointment you will be placed in the general queue. Please note there will be no
appointments during school holidays.

Home visits by GPs, Nurses and Aboriginal
Health Workers are available when required for
clients living within a 10 km radius from AMS

a client is very ill and it is dangerous or
inadvisable for them to leave their house. This is
decided in consultation with the relevant Team
Leader, GP, Nurse and the client.

Availability of Child & Adult Health
Checks
Full health checks by Aboriginal Health Workers,
Nurses and Doctors are available – even if you
feel well it is important to have regular check ups.
Please let us know if you would like to get this
done.
Availability of longer consultations
The length of your consultation with a GP will
depend on the complexity of your health
problems. GP consultations are usually between
10 minutes and 30 minutes, though sometimes
longer consultations are required for clients with
multiple
problems.
Specialist
medical
consultations are usually between 30 to 60
minutes, depending on who you are seeing.
Receiving and returning telephone
calls
Doctors, Nurses and relevant Team Leaders and
relevant Aboriginal Health Workers are available
to take phone calls from clients if it is not
necessary for them to see a doctor.
Medical advice can only be given over the phone
by a doctor or under advice from a doctor. Most
calls are put through to the relevant Team
Leader, or Clinic Nurse who will then give the
message to the appropriate Doctor. If they are
not able to take the call immediately the doctor
will ring back when they are available. Please
notify the Clinic Nurse or Medical Receptionist if it
is an urgent matter.
Follow up of test results
Your doctor will let you know when the results of
any test will be back, and whether you should
come in for the results. If you have an important
abnormal result and do not contact us for results
we will try and contact you by telephone or by
letter. However, this is not always possible due
to out of date contact details and this can be
dangerous for your health. Please ensure if you
have tests done you make sure you get the
results back.
Reminder Letters
We regularly send out letters to let people know
when their check ups, pap tests or immunisations
are due. Please let us know if you do not want to
receive these heath reminders.
Confidentiality
The AMS Western Sydney places the highest
importance on the confidentiality of your medical
care and your medical notes and has strict
procedures in place to ensure your confidentiality.
Access to your health information
You have the right to access your personal health
information under the Privacy Amendment
(Private Sector) Act 2000. If you have need of
this please discuss with your treating GP.
