engineers from various fields. Together we bring our global expertise and experience in

Being a global insurer, we have had consistent exposure to a wide range of occupancies
and risks both in Australia and internationally. This also means we must maintain our
knowledge of all the relevant loss control standards in territories where our clients
operate.
The risk engineering team offers our clients transparency regarding their in-house risks
compared to corporate in-house standards and best risk engineering practice including
risks presented by natural hazards. We do this by developing an understanding of our
client’s business and then using this to present cost-effective and realistic loss mitigation
recommendations based on widely accepted loss control standards.
Ultimately our intention is to support our client’s business operations through risk
identification and solutions to manage those risks whilst improving their risk profile. Our

DENNIS BRUNKHORST- RISK ENGINEERING MANAGER


Dipl. Ing. / Diploma degree (equivalent to a Master’s degree) from University
Hanover (Mechanical Engineer with focus in Process and Energy industry)
Member of German VDI – Association of German engineers with 150,000
members. The role of the VDI in Germany is comparable to that of the American
Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in the United States or Engineers
Australia (EA) in Australia
Dennis is a HPR, FM trained Risk Engineer with 10 years experience in the insurance
industry. Prior to working in the insurance industry Dennis worked as a Project Engineer
in the Industrial Sector.
As a risk engineer Dennis has worked amongst a variety of industry sectors including:
Utilities, power plants, renewable energy plants, steel manufacturing, plastics
manufacturing and the food industry. Dennis is trained as a machinery breakdown
specialist and continues extending knowledge and training in the power and mining
industry extending on his extensive experience in the industrial and manufacturing
sectors.
MEHDI HASSANI- SENIOR RISK ENGINEER




Mehdi is a HPR, FM trained Risk Engineer with 6 years experience in the insurance
industry. Prior to the insurance industry, Mehdi worked as a process safety engineer in
the chemicals production industry.
As a risk engineer Mehdi has worked with customers in a variety of industry sectors
mainly including: manufacturing, chemical, mining, distribution/logistics, packaging,
infrastructure and commercial/retail, with a greater focus on general industrial
manufacturing.
Mehdi has extensive industry training specialising in Natural hazards and in training
engineers on the risk identification and loss estimation of flood and cyclone effects.
Mehdi can conduct client seminars on the topics of flood and cyclone risk & emergency
planning and has also co-authored a paper covering the topic of flood mapping.
Mehdi has also received training and is further specialising in the field of chemical
process safety in the specialty chemicals and petrochemicals sector.
CAPTAIN IAN COOK MCCARRY- MARINE RISK ENGINEER


Master Mariner Class 1 (Gas Ship Endorsement)
Master Business Administration- Wollongong University
Ian is a seasoned marine risk engineer with a vast background spanning over 50 years.
Prior to working in the insurance industry Ian worked in multiple roles within the
maritime sector that ranged from sailing to stevedoring and finally in management.
As a risk engineer Ian has worked closely with underwriters, clients, equipment suppliers,
logistics providers and marine surveyors to provide detailed management and control of
transport operations. Areas of focus include: modes of transport used, storage,
materials packing, handling and methods of loading/unloading cargo. Ian is able to
provide expert advice particularly on steel and bulk materials handling as well as the
stowage and handling of containerised goods.
