2nd International Conference on Behavioral and Social Science Research (ICBSSR 2014) Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar, Perak, Malaysia, 5 - 8 August 2014 15 Factors Affecting Hybrid Car Purchase Intention in Malaysia Woon Yaw Hor*, Ismail Hishamuddin, and Rahman Muhammad Sabbir Multimedia University, 75450, Ayer Keroh, Melaka, Malaysia, [email protected] Multimedia University, 75450, Ayer Keroh, Melaka, Malaysia, [email protected] International Islamic University Malaysia, 50728, Selayang, Selangor, Malaysia, [email protected] Hybrid car, which viewed as a feasible alternative to replace conventional car, could significantly reduce the aggregate volume of petrol consumption through advanced technologies. However, due to the low adoption of hybrid cars in Malaysian market, this paper aimed to uncover the predictors that enhance the purchase intention of hybrid cars. Besides, this paper investigates the versatility of Theory of Planned Behaviour in explaining the hybrid car purchase intention. A structured, closed-ended questionnaire by using multi-stage random sampling was used and targeted existing car owners as the subjects of study. With a total of 489 valid questionnaires, this paper utilised Structural Equation Modelling by using AMOS to investigate the relationship between the constructs. Overall, with satisfied fit index of measurement model and structural model, this paper confirmed the role of TPB in explaining 62.1 per cent of the variance of purchase intention of hybrid car through the construct of subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, and attitude. The finding provided insightful information on the purchase intention of hybrid car to make it better align with the NAP 2014 that focuses on the industrial chain to address the rising trend of environmental protection and capitalisation of opportunities. Temperament And Oral Communication Apprehension: A Communibiological Perspective In Accounting Education Alex Tun Lee Foo*, Paul Gnanaselvam and Chzia Poaw Sim Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, 31900 Kampar, Perak, Malaysia [email protected],[email protected],[email protected] Accountants in the next decade require adequate communication skills. However, a skill gap was found as accounting students were repeatedly reported as being communicationapprehensives (CA). Underlying factors leading to the problem of CA in accounting education, according to past studies, were largely depending on the social learning theory. Recent reconceptualization proposes a neurobiological perspective instead, which emerges as a theory in interpersonal communication. This model was found untapped in education journals. Hoping to close the gap in this literature, this study adopted one theoretical framework anchored by communbiogical paradigm in studying accounting student’s CA, with temperament as the main predictor of the study. Questionnaire survey comprising of interpersonal communication and personality instruments are employed to capture 624 accounting student responses. Students’ data from all years of study are deliberated to validate trait-like CA position as suggested by the model. Data analysis using multiple regression reveals that the temperament-based model is meaningful in predicting CA. Implications and discussions are discussed in the light of student’s CA in meeting tomorrow’s communication demand.
