Malaysian Financial Planner of the Year Award (MFPYA)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Financial Planning Association Malaysia (FPAM) Launches Malaysia Financial Planner of the
Year Award for 2015.
Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA, December 10, 2014 – FPAM announced today the launch of the Malaysia
Financial Planner of the Year Award (MFPYA). The award is an initiative by FPAM in collaboration with
IBFIM, to boost the level of professionalism in the Malaysian financial planning industry, which in turn will
contribute to the strengthening of the Capital Market.
The competition will recognize the top 3 financial planners in Malaysia. Winners will receive cash awards
and are also guaranteed entry into the PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards 2015 competition.
Interested financial planners must submit a real client financial plan (with the permission of their client)
which will then be reviewed by a panel of qualified judges. Each plan will be judged based on the specific
actions that were recommended to achieve the client’s specific goals and objectives as well as enhance
the client’s overall well-being. It is important that participants work with their clients on a fiduciary basis,
meaning that the planner is limited to recommending only solutions that are in the best interest of their
clients.
“We are working hard to set everything in motion prior to the registration launch date of February 1, 2015”
said Linnet Lee, Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia. “The award is
the first of its kind, making it a ground breaking opportunity for our planners”.
“The record number of entries submitted to the PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards by Malaysian
planners in 2013 and 2014 led us to recognize that a similar event was needed here but on a more localized
scale” said Lee. “We have so many outstanding financial planners in Malaysia, and it’s important that we
provide them with the opportunity to compete locally and showcase their talents. Not only will the winners
earn respect and recognition amongst their peers, but they will also become better prepared for moving
on to compete on a global scale”
“IBFIM is delighted to cooperate and involve closely with FPAM in this event as part of our contribution
towards the financial planning industry as a profession globally as well as creating a competitive edge in
the industry. For a record, currently, IBFIM and FPAM have produced more than 500 Islamic Financial
Planner (IFP) certificants” said Dato Dr. Adnan Alias, Chief Executive Officer of IBFIM.
“We are very happy to have the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia come on board as the first
PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards country affiliate” said PlanPlus Global Financial Planning
Awards Director, John Page. “PlanPlus is working together with FPAM to establish the basic infrastructure
for the Awards in Malaysia. We have agreed to help provide as much information and documentation as
we can, based on our own global awards” said Page. “The goal is to eventually hold local competitions in
a number of countries as a stepping stone to the Global Competition. We are excited that Malaysia is our
first country affiliate.”
