Description of content: Draft Food Import Regulations 2014 applicable for importation of food into Malaysia. The draft Regulations stipulates that importers shall bear all the laboratory analysis cost for the samples obtained from any subsequent food consignment to the food consignment which contravenes provisions under the Food Act 1983 and its related regulations namely the Food Regulations 1985, Food Hygiene Regulations 2009 and Food Irradiation Regulations 2011. 7. Objective and rationale, including the nature of urgent problems where applicable: To ensure appropriate actions are taken on food consignments which previously contravenes the Food Act 1983 and its related regulations, to prevent delay in the clearance of food shipments at the port, to facilitate trade, to ensure uninterrupted supply chain and to prevent excessive storage charges due to delay in obtaining analysis results/certificate from the laboratory. 8.
