Graham Coatman writes: Holy Trinity Festivities - Fêtes de
Sainte Trinité 14/15, 21/22 & 28/29 June 2014. In the run up to
the Grand Départ on Saturday 5 July we are planning a trinity of
weekends with music and arts events under title "Holy Trinity
Festivities - Fêtes de Sainte Trinité". The programme will consist
of three special evening performances on Saturdays 14, 21 and 28
June, as well as a mix of music, dancing, street entertainment, etc,
th
between 10 am - 3 pm on Saturdays 21 and 28 June (not 14 as
this is the day of the Skipton Gala). The programme will feature
many local groups, singing, dancing, etc, and presently includes
Skipton Ladies Choir, Community Orchestra, Ukulele Club and
st
Ilkley choir Pinsuti. On Sat 21 we join forces with the Day of
Dance organised by Flagcrackers of Craven, with up to 7 Morris
and clog teams taking part around Holy Trinity and the town
centre. Whilst raising funds for Music at Holy Trinity, we also aim
to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the official charity
partner of the Grand Départ. It would be very helpful if anyone
able and willing to offer some time to act as steward or
chaperone, etc to let me know. There will also shortly be leaflets
to distribute – any help with this would also be much appreciated.
Any other suggestions for performers (eg street theatre?) or
offers of help would be welcomed. There will also be a French
flavour to music at the services over this period, and the organ
will feature in the music programmes on Saturdays 21 & 28 June.
ST AUGUSTINE’S NEWS
We give a warm welcome today to the Revd Christopher
Armstrong presiding at Holy Communion this morning.

hope as many people as possible will stay and enjoy one
another’s company. There will also be a stall selling Fairtrade

Bank Holiday Stall at Burnsall: TOMORROW! We have a stall on
Burnsall Village Green as part of their Charities Day (124pm)which includes stalls, games, refreshments, duck race, brass
band, children’s races and more! Come along to support us, and
have a look at the sign up sheets at the back of church to see how
you can contribute.
Count Your Blessings: if you took part in this during Lent please
bring your collection to church or to the Vicarage by next Sunday,
May 11th so that it can be sent off together.
Tuesday Teas takes place at St Mary’s between 2 and 4pm every
Tuesday. Tea, coffee and homemade baking are served; this is a
chance for anyone, local or visiting, to meet and to chat with
friends.
If you enjoy knitting or sewing, could you help create resources
for use by churches around the area? Talk to Louise for more
information; and have a look in Cornerstone’s on Newmarket
Street for ideas!
Le Tour: we would like to have the church open during the
afternoons of July 5th and 6th. Please consider if you are available
to help as this can only happen if we have at least two people
here.
Christian Aid Week takes place between May 11th - 17th. Please
consider whether you could help with the door-to-door
collection; talk to Louise to find out more.
