Visit by Canon Dr Simon Taylor to St Johns and All Saints – weekend of
21st / 22nd February 2015
The overall theme will be ‘Praying in the Spirit for the modern world (from
Romans 8)’. There will be an evening event on the Saturday 21 st at 7.30pm
at St. John's. This will be a Cheese and Wine evening, at which Simon will
share opening thoughts. There will be a sign up sheet for this to help plan
numbers, but please don't stay away just because you haven't signed up.
Simon will speak at the joint benefice (old “MMA”) service at 10am at St
Johns and then at All Saints service of Holy Communion with prayer for
healing at 6.30pm. Please be praying for his visit and for our own spiritual
journeys together. Also please make this a top priority as we seek to learn

Marjorie Webster R.I.P. Marjorie's funeral is at St John's at 12.45 on 2nd.
February which I will take with Peter. The private committal will then

Church Flowers – The flowers this week have been donated by the
Wednesday Friendship group in memory of Marjorie Webster. Thank you

Internet Café February 2nd – This will meet half an hour earlier from 930am till 11-30am, so that we will be clear and out of the way by the time

Barn Dance – Mickleover Singers There will be a Barn Dance at Our Lady
of Lourdes Church Hall, on Friday 6 th February at 7.30pm. Tickets £6 which

CTM Lent addresses: For Lent this year, Peter has arranged for four
speakers to address four themes regarding our responsibility to the poor
and marginalized. The addresses will be at evening services we are
arranging on 4 Sundays in March, as follows;
1st All Saints, – Ven Christine Wilson (Modern day Slavery in the UK)
8th OLOL -Revd Maureen Priddin (Asylum Seekers/Derby City of Sanctuary),
15th MMC - Revd Ally Kay (Homeless/Nightshelter project)
22nd St Johns. – Claire Bampton of Christian Aid (The Environmental
effects on the poor in Bolivia). All of these are important for us to consider
especially in an election year as we think about whom to vote for in May.

Knit and Natter – next meets on Mon 9th Feb. Can you please let Lesley

Projector Rota – We wish to have a rota of people to set up the Laptop
equipment and operate the “clicker” during services. If you think this is
something you could do, please see Paul Pritchard, or Michael Vick. It is
quite simple and training will be given. This is an important ministry. Paul
Building Connections - Overcoming Loneliness - 'Growing Communities
Together', is a cross faith organisation working to support the vulnerable in
Derby. On 17th February from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at St Mary’s Parish
Rooms, Bridge Gate, Derby, DE1 3AU, there will be an event aimed at
those people who work to support the elderly and vulnerable. Book using
